Dallas Mavericks information, The Dallas Mavericks joined the NBA in 1980. They play in the Southwest Division of the Western Conference. They are owned by the colorful and outspoken Mark Cuban. Despite having some really strong teams in the last few years the Mavericks have yet to win an NBA title. They did advance to the NBA Finals in 2005-06, only to lose to the Miami Heat in six games.
In 2007 and 2008 the Mavs reached the playoffs but failed to get past the first round. With Dirk Nowitzki and Jason Kidd leading the squad, they finished the 2009 season with a 50-32 record. They met the San Antonio Spurs in the first round and beat them in five games. They were then matched up against the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference semi finals, who eventually ended their playoff run. Major contributors for this upcoming season will include franchise player Nowitzki, along with Kidd, Jason Terry, and newly acquired Shawn Marion.
