Information

The Dallas Cowboys are one of the most storied franchises in NFL history. They entered the league as an expansion team in 1960 and became only the 2nd NFL team in the Southern United States at the time. Prior to their formation, the Washington Redskins were the only team considered to be in the South. Often referred to as "America's Team" due to their popularity throughout the U.S., the Cowboys have won five Super Bowls in their 48 year history. The Cowboys also hold the record for most consecutive winning seasons with 20 (from 1966 to 1985).

Most recently, the Cowboys dominated in the early 1990's under the ownership of Jerry Jones and the arm and legs of Troy Aikman and Emmitt Smith, respectively. The talented Cowboys also had superstar wide reciever, Michael Irvin. With this nucleus in place, the Cowboys won Super Bowls in 1992, 1993, and 1995.

Dallas finished the 2007 season with a 13-3 record but was upset in the first round of the playoffs by the eventual Super Bowl Champion New York Giants. The loss extended the 'Boys playoff win drought to 11 years. In the offseason Dallas brought in linebacker Zach Thomas and troubled defensive back Adam "Pacman" Jones with the hopes to solidify their defensive unit. The 2008 season started on a high note; the Cowboys won their first two road games and beat the rival Philadelphia Eagles at home. The Washington Redskins handed the Cowboys their first loss of the season with a close 24-26. Dallas won their next game, but never really found a rhythm as the season progressed. The Cowboys lost all of their remaining road games, and their last home game at Texas Stadium.

The Cowboys suffered from off-the-field drama in 2008, but the team showed a commitment to getting serious. The team let Pacman Jones and Terrell Owens go, and is adopting a more serious workout regimen for the 2009 training camp. A more focused Tony Romo is being given more control of the team on the field, and the Cowboys are looking forward to a drama-free, successful 2009 season.
