Colorado Avalanche information, The roster of the Colorado Avalanche has a very different look these days now that some of their elite players have moved on. Some of these players include Peter Forsberg, Adam Foote, Rob Blake, Alex Tanguay, and Dan Hinote. All of these players were key elements in the team's eight division titles and two Stanley Cups, since the Avalanche moved from Quebec in 1995.
After 2005 the Avalanche have reached the playoffs two out of four times. In 2006 and 2008 they advanced to the Conference Semifinals, but were swept on both occasions. Last season they hit their low point, finishing at 5th place in the Northwest Division. Team captain Joe Sakic on July 9th, 2009 retired after twenty hard fought seasons in the NHL. His #19 will hand next to Ray Bourque's #77 and Patrick Roy's #33 before the start of the 2009-2010 season.
