Information

Chicago Bears Information, The Chicago Bears are one of the most successful NFL franchises ever. They won Super Bowl XX and also won 8 NFL Championships prior to the Super Bowl's existence. Their long time rival Green Bay Packers are the only team with more Championships(12). The Bears have also had some of the most colorful and memorable personalities in Football history. Coach Mike Ditka will always be a legend in the eyes of Chicago's fans. Ditka also made several appearances on Saturday Night Live in the sketch that made the phrase 'Da Bears' a common reference. Other memorable Bears stars include, Walter Payton, Jim McMahon, & William "Refrigerator" Perry.

In 2005 the Bears finished as the champs of the NFC North with a record of 11-5. They played host to the Carolina Panthers in their first home playoff game at the recently renovated Soldier's Field. The Bears however did not advance to the next round as the Panthers were victorious that day. In 2006 Chicago came back with another winning season and this time advanced to Super Bowl XLI. Unfortunately they were outmatched by the Indianapolis Colts, losing 29-17.

For the past two years the Bears haven’t been able to play past the regular season. In April of 2009 they made one of the biggest trades in franchise history, acquiring Pro Bowl QB Jay Cutler from the Denver Broncos in exchange for QB Kyle Orton. During the 2009 NFL draft, the Bears selected Jarron Gilbert out of San Jose State. He was chosen 68th overall in the third round, but was Chicago's first pick of the 2009 draft due to the Jay Cutler trade. The Bears are hoping that Cutler is the guy to get them back where they were in 2005/2006. Look for Chicago to potentially earn a playoff spot for this season.
