The University of Central Florida Knights feature 16 collegiate varsity teams that compete in the NCAA Division 1 Conference USA. Wearing the bold colors of black and gold, the school rallies behind their mascot Knightro. Primary playing fields include Bright House Networks Stadium, UFC Arena, Jay Bergman Field, UCF Track and Soccer Complex, and the Venue at UCF Arena. Men's sports consist of Baseball, Basketball, Cross Country Running, Football, Golf, Soccer, and Tennis. Women's sports include Basketball, Cross Country Running, Golf, Rowing, Soccer, Softball, Tennis, Track and field, and Volleyball.

For the past few years their football program has shown as the most popular sport. The team qualified for the Hawaii Bowl in 2005 and the Liberty Bowl in 2007. Knights football has featured many NFL players such as Brandon Marshall, Asante Samuel, Kevin Smith, Doug Gabriel, Daunte Culpepper, and Mike Sims.
