Carolina Hurricanes information, Formerly the Hartford Whalers, the Hurricanes franchise was started in 1972. Their most successful season was 2005-06 when they won their first and only Stanley Cup. For the following two seasons they were unable to make the playoffs, posting records barely over .500.
The 2009 Hurricanes came back and were ready to take on the best teams in the league. They advanced to the playoffs and through the first two rounds, including a second round series victory over the top seeded Boston Bruins. They hit their limit in the Conference Finals against the Pittsburgh Penguins, losing the series in just four games. Team Captain Rod Brind'Amour is looking forward to getting back on the ice with his squad heading into 2010. The Hurricanes are returning most key players and should look to have another successful season.
