Since the 2004-2005 NHL Lockout, Calgary has produced winning seasons but has failed to make it past the Conference Quarterfinals. In May of 2009, head coach Mike Keenan was fired and Bret Sutter was named to replace him just one month later. That season, the Flames were eliminated from playoff contention just one week before the postseason started. They didn’t make the playoffs again in the 2010-11 season or the 2011-12 season.
