Buffalo Bills information, Since the AFL and NFL merger occurred, the Buffalo Bills have never won an NFL championship. This is despite the fact that they advanced to the Super Bowl in four consecutive seasons. From 1990 through 1993 the Bills had dominated the AFC but could not win the last big game. This time period is also known as the "Levy-Kelly" era, after head coach Marv Levy and quarterback Jim Kelly. To their credit, they did face some fierce competition in each of the Super Bowls including two losses to the Dallas Cowboys, whom many feel were the team of the decade led by Hall of Famer Troy Aikman.
Since 2000, the Bills have yet to make that playoffs and have failed to finish in the top 2 of the AFC East. Since Jim Kelly’s retirement, the Bills have struggled to find a quarterback to fill his sizable shoes. Dating back to 1998, the team has experimented with 7 different players at the position, including Drew Bledsoe and Doug Flutie who was the last QB to play in a playoff game for the Bills.
In 2009, the ball will start again in the hands of three year QB Trent Edwards. In his rookie season, Edwards was able to step up into the starting role after QB J.P. Losman became injured in Week 3 against New England. He led the bills to five victories, the most by a Bills rookie QB since 1973. Last season the Bills were able to capture 7 wins, but still finished 4th in the highly competitive AFC East. On March 7th, 2009 the Bills acquired six time Pro-Bowler Terrell Owens to a one-year $6.5 million deal. So far Owens has been welcomed with open arms from Bills fans. He has received the key to the city of Buffalo, is currently engaged in his own reality television show, and has just released his own brand cereal. If Owens and Edwards can coexist, the Bills should really have something to look forward to for the 2009-2010 season. Logic tells you that the Bills can eventually win a Super Bowl; however, the goal for this year should be to simply make the playoffs and build from there.
Miami Dolphins quarterback Chad Pennington has recently been diagnosed with a torn capsule in his throwing shoulder and will be expected to miss the rest of the season. TE Anthony Fasano spoke out on the situation, emphasizing the fact that together the team must move on. “We’re going to have to go out there with Henne, who [...]
This week certainly backed the point that this is anyone’s season. The AFC East seems to be stronger than ever knowing the New York Jets upset the New England Patriots, and the Buffalo Bills dominated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after last week’s heartbreaking loss. The Miami Dolphins were fighting head to head with the Colts [...]
ESPN analyst and sportscaster Chris Berman brought up the old saying “that’s why they play the game” at half time during the New England Patriots Buffalo Bills Monday night showdown at Gillette Stadium. The Bills were ahead and in control for the entire game, aside from the last portion of the fourth quarter when Tom Brady [...]
