The Boston Red Sox are one of the most storied franchises in sports. Ever since being established in 1901, Boston's fanbase has been one of the most devoted in all of sports. The Boston Americans (as they were known as at the time) won the first World Series in 1903, have won championships in 1912, 1915, 1916, 1918, 2004 and 2007. In 2004, led by the bats of David Ortiz and Manny Ramirez, and the arms of Curt Schilling and Pedro Martinez, the Sox made a historic comeback against the rival Yankees to win the American League Championship after trailing 3-0. The Sox went on to sweep the Cardinals to take their first world championship in 86 years.

After being swept out of the playoffs in 2005, and finishing in third place in 2006, the 2007 Sox team returned with a vengeance. Red Sox tickets sold at a record pace right from opening day. Jonathan Papelbon was dominant in the closer role, Mike Lowell had a career season, and AL Rookie of the year Dustin Pedroia led a core of young players. The '07 Sox won 96 regular season games; including 20 by CY Young runner-up Josh Beckett, 17 by veteran knucleballer Tim Wakefield, and 15 from Daisuke Matsuzaka in his first season outside of Japan. On September 1st, rookie right-hander Clay Buchholz threw a no-hitter against the Baltimore Orioles in just his second Major-League start.

The 2008 Boston Red Sox

The Sox opened their 2008 campaign in Japan against the A's. Jon Lester became the second Sox pitcher to toss a no-no in 2 years, shutting down the Kansas City Royals at Fenway. The 2008 Red Sox went to the Playoffs as the Wild Card team, beating the Los Angeles Angels in the ALDS, but eventually lost in the ALCS in seven games to the Tampa Bay Rays.

2009 Boston Red Sox tickets are now available for all home games at Fenway Park.
