Boston Beanpot Information

The Boston Beanpot is an annual college hockey tournament held amongst the four major college hockey schools in Boston: Boston University, Boston College, Harvard, and Northeastern. The tournament began in the 1952-53 season. The event takes place on the first two Monday nights in February. There are two games in the first round, followed by the winners moving on to the finals while the losers play for third place.

The BU Terriers have earned 29 Beanpot titles in total. Boston College has the second most championships with 17. Harvard and Northeastern have earned rights to be called Beanpot champs ten and four times. Boston College has dominated the past five years with four out of five championship wins, three consecutively. Since 1994, the Beanpot has gone to either BC or BU, with Harvard winning the last time in the 1992-1993 season and Northeastern’s last championship in the 1987-1988 season.

The Beanpot bestows four major honors—the Beanpot Trophy to the first place winners, the Eberly Trophy to the goaltender who has the highest save percentage, the Beanpot MVP award, and finally, and most importantly, bragging rights over the rest of the city of Boston for at least a year.

Year by year the Beanpot proves as one of the most thrilling and entertaining intercollegiate contests of the year! Contact Ace with all of your 2011 Beanpot ticket needs.
