Bob Seger became one of the most popular heartland rockers over the course of the 70's. With the combination of "garage" rock and hard-edged soul and R&B he crafted a distinctively American sound. Throughout his career he has developed a dedicated following by consistently touring with his Silver Bullet Band and with the back to back release of Live Bullet and Night Moves his popularity rose to a new level.
Seger began playing music in 1961 as the leader of the Detroit-based trio the Decibels. His first solo single "East Side Story" quickly became a regional hit. In 1968 he formed the Bob Seger System and signed with Capitol Records which released his first album Ramblin' Gamblin' Man, the title track quickly became a national hit.
By 1975 Bob had formed a new band The silver Bullet Band and Capitol Records released their debut album Beautiful Loser. Although Beautiful Loser was not a hit, because the band toured extensively while promoting it he developed an extensive group of followers so by the time they released Live Bullet their touring efforts had paid off. Live Bullet spent over three years on the U.S. charts and eventually would go quadruple platinum. Their follow up album to Live Bullet was Night Moves which would become a blockbuster album with hit singles such as "Night Moves", "Mainstreet" and "Rock & Roll Never Forgets". By 1978 Stranger in town was released and was just as successful as the bands first two albums. Stranger In Town produced hits such as "Still the Same", "Hollywood Nights" , "We've Got Tonite" and "Old Time Rock & Roll".
Seger's first #1 album was 1980's Against The Wind, not only was the album #1 but the hits "Fire Lake", "Against the Wind", "You'll Accomp'ny Me" were all #1 hits also. Nine Tonight, The Distance and Like a Rock all albums produced during the 80's while the Silver Bullet Band was constantly changing, and although the albums did well their following was leveling off and they decided to take a break from recording and touring for a while. After 10 years Bob Seger and The Silver Bullet Band have released a new album "Face the Promise", in the first 45 days the album sold over 400,000 copies and the tour to support the album will also be the first for Seger in 10 years. The tour has been eagerly anticipated and many of the tour dates have sold out in minutes. As more shows get added the excitement surrounding the album and tour grows. So don't miss out on this legendary performer that aims to please!
