This Week in Boston (April 9 – 15)

The Bruins will kick off the playoffs at home at the TD Garden on Thursday April 12. They’re going up against the Washington Capitals who beat the Bruins in the regular season series 3-1. They’ll play a second game at home on Saturday April 14 before moving the series to Washington. The Bruins had a strong finish, winning four out of the last five games of the regular season. Hopefully they will be able to carry the momentum over to the playoffs and start things off right at home. (more)

Bruins Top Rangers 2-1, Clinch Division

With the 2-1 win against the New York Rangers on Sunday April 1, the Boston Bruins have clinched first place in the Northeast Division as well as a playoff spot. Tim Thomas was the winning goalie for the Bruins, saving 33 and only allowing one in in the first period to Rangers’ right wing Marian Gaborik. (more)

KG, Celtics Handle Jazz at Home

Kevin Garnett contributed 23 points and 10 rebounds to lead his Boston Celtics past the Utah Jazz 94-82 last night at TD Garden. The C’s have won their last 5-of-6 and are tied with the Philadelphia 76ers atop the Atlantic Division at 28-22. (more)

Avicci at TD Garden June 15th

Swedish DJ Avicci is coming to Boston’s TD Garden on June 15, 2012. The 22-year old has released a number of singles that have been international hits. Songs include, “Seek Bromance,” “My Feelings For You,” “Fade Into Darkness,” and “Levels.” (more)

Aerosmith at TD Garden July 17th

Veteran rock band Aerosmith is set to perform at Boston’s TD Garden July 17th as part of their 2012 summer tour. Frontman Steven Tyler released a statement yesterday on his 64th birthday: “The old Aerosmith is back with a new vengeance, and we will kick your ass and make out with your mothers.” The Global Warming Tour will kick off in Minneapolis June 16th and conclude in Tacoma, WA August 8th. The Bruins are at home tonight against the Toronto Maple Leafs at the TD Garden before they begin a streak of away games the rest of the week. The team is coming off a 3-2 win against the Philadelphia Flyers. Before Saturday’s win, the Bruins have struggled with a 1-4 record over the past five games. (more)

Ainge, Celtics Unlikely To Strike Major Deal at Trade Deadline

Rondo Collects Triple-Double Amidst Trade Rumors

Celtics PG Rajon Rondo contributed 15 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists for his 16th career triple-double during last night’s 102-96 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks at TD Garden. The two-time All-Defensive first-teamer also limited Milwaukee’s Brandon Jennings to just six points on 2-of-11 shooting. (more)
