Celtics Top Raptors on 39 Points by Pierce

Posted by Ace Staff on January 13th, 2009

Paul Pierce was determined to get the Celtics past the Raptors last night. The team leader dropped 39 points on Toronto scoring 9 of them in OT to seal the 115-109 victory by the Boston Celtics.  Pierce played 49 minutes in Monday night’s game despite the fact that he had a bad knee due to a collision in Sunday’s game.  Kevin Garnett added 20 points and 12 rebounds for Boston.  The win was Boston’s 2nd in a row after losing 7 of 9 and put the Celtics at 31-9 on the year. After playing 2 in a row against the Raptors, the Celtics will do the same with the New Jersey Nets. The Nets will play the Celtics at the TD Banknorth Garden on Wednesday 1/14 and the Celtics will travel to New Jersey for Saturday’s game with the Nets.  Celtics tickets are available for these and all Celtics games both at home and on the road.

Celtics Look to Bounce Back vs Cavs

Posted by Ace Staff on January 9th, 2009

The Boston Celtics have been on a 2-6 skid since having their winning streak derailed by the Los Angeles Lakers. Amid speculation of acquiring Knick Stephon Marbury and the rapidly approaching trade deadline, the C’s need to either right the ship or figure out what they need. The Cavaliers, looking for revenge for being knocked out of the playoffs last year and an opening night loss this year, have usurped the C’s as top team in the NBA in most power rankings. Tip-off is at 8:00pm at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland. 2009 Boston Celtics tickets are available now!

Bruins Snap Losing Streak, Top Ottawa

Posted by Ace Staff on January 9th, 2009

Despite goaltender Manny Fernandez only stopping 26 of 30 shots, the Boston Bruins topped the Ottawa Senators at home on Thursday night. With the game knotted up at the start of the third period, Boston center David Krejci would give Boston the lead with an unassisted goal in the 10th minute. Marc Savard and P.J. Axelsson would each contribute another goal to put the game out of reach. The Bruins still have a 10 point lead over the Montreal Canadiens in the division, and will host them at the Garden on Tuesday, January 13th. Boston Bruins Tickets are available now!

Source: Celtics and Marbury Closer To A Deal

Posted by Ace Staff on January 6th, 2009

ESPN’s Marc Stein is reporting that Stephon Marbury’s falling out with the New York Knicks could lead to him playing for the Green. With the losses of James Posey and PJ Brown, and the free agent pool quickly dwindling; Marbury could be a low-cost veteran precence off of the bench. Despite recent failures in buyout discussions with the Knicks, Stein’s source says that “it will happen” in due time.  “I didn’t want to be a distraction for the team first and me second” Marbury wrote on his New York Post Blog. “I honestly came to help the team win. Real talk. I was willing to put in the work necessary to earn my starting spot and humble enough to accept coming off of the bench.” The Knicks beat the Celtics 100 to 88 on Saturday in New York.  Boston shot just 29.5% in the second half, and failed to capitalize on late chances to take the game back. Bruins Hosting Winter Classic 2010 at Fenway?

Posted by Ace Staff on January 2nd, 2009

During the broadcast of the Toronto Maple Leafs New Year’s Day game, announcers reportedly mentioned rumors about next year’s Winter Classic matchup. Seemingly having inside info, the broadcast team said that NHL was going to continue to match up original Six teams, and that a Leafs/Bruins matchup at historic Fenway Park was a no-brainer.  The involvement of a Canadian Original Six team could also mean a Bruins/Canadiens match up as well. 2009 Boston Bruins Tickets are available now!

Celtics Streak Halted By Lakers

Posted by Ace Staff on December 26th, 2008

20 straight wins would have been a great Christmas present from the Boston Celtics to their fans but alas they were bound to lose one sooner or later.  Most in Boston would have preffered any team beat them other than the Los Angeles Lakers however.  The Lakers won this mini battle yesterday at the Staples Center with an impressive defensive showing in their 92-83 win over Boston.  The win improved the Lakers’ record to 24-5 while the Celtics move to 27-3.  The game between last year’s Championship rivals had the feel of a Finals game despite the fact that this season isn’t half over. Both teams still have a long road ahead before they meet in any seriously important games. Kobe Bryant was the scoring leader for the Lakers in this one with 27 points and 9 rebounds.  Boston meanwhile got a great shooting game out of Kevin Garnett who added 22 points and 9 rebounds.  Paul Pierce scored 20 with 10 rebounds but failed to score in the crucial 4th quarter.  The win for the Lakers was Phil Jackson’s 1,000th career win as a head coach. The Celtics and Lakers will meet again on 2/5/09 at the TD Banknorth Garden in Boston. Celtics vs Lakers tickets are available for this game.

Celtics Set Franchise Mark, Win 19 Straight

Posted by Ace Staff on December 24th, 2008

What more can you say about the Boston Celtics?  At 27-2 this team is determined not to suffer a Championship hangover and are early favorites to repeat in 2009.  The Celtics beat the 76ers last night 110-91 in Boston for a new franchise record 19 wins in a row.  To reach the 20 wins in a row mark the Celtics will go up against a much improved and equally impressive Los Angeles Lakers team on Christmas Day at the Staples Center in L.A. The Celtics were led by Kevin Garnett and Rajon Rondo last night with each player dropping 18 points on Philadelphia.  For their part the Celtics remained grounded about their success. They know that a win streak doesn’t equal a Championship. Just ask the once 19-0 Patriots how that goes.  The Celtics will return to the TD Banknorth Garden on 1/2/09 to face the Washington Wizards.  Boston plays its next four games on the road.  Boston Celtics tickets are available for all 2009 games.

Bruins, Thomas Shutout Devils

Posted by Ace Staff on December 24th, 2008

The Eastern Conference leading Boston Bruins won a tough matchup with the Eastern Conference’s other hot team the New Jersey Devils last night with a 2-0 win in Jersey.  The win was the 6th in a row for the Bruins who now have 54 points trailing only the San Jose Sharks for the NHL lead.  The shutout was the third on the year for goalie Tim Thomas and came on a 25 save night.  Milan Lucic scored the 1st goal of the game 49 seconds into the 3rd period.  David Krejci would add an empty net goal in the final minute of the game.  The very defensive game had a playoff like feel to it with two potential Eastern Conference heavyweights facing off. The Boston Bruins will play their next three games on the road against the Hurricanes, Thrashers and Penguins before hosting the Pittsburgh Penguins at the TD Banknorth Garden in Boston on New Year’s Day. Great Bruins tickets are available for this New Year’s day matchup as well as for all 2009 Boston Bruins games.
