Celtics Officially Sign Jason Terry

The Boston Celtics recently inked 13-year veteran guard Jason Terry to a three-year, $15 million contract utilizing the midlevel exception. Terry agreed to sign with the Celtics earlier this offseason, long before Ray Allen made his decision to join the Miami Heat. With the loss of Allen and Avery Bradley’s uncertain status after two shoulder surgeries, the C’s will call on Terry to play a significant role at the start of the regular season. (more)

Youkilis Makes Return to Fenway, Gonzalez Homers to Lift Red Sox

Kevin Youkilis put on a show for the Red Sox fans at Fenway Park eagerly awaiting his return, gaining three hits and scoring the lone White Sox run in the first inning following a monstrous standing ovation. Adrian Gonzalez belted a three-run shot to left center in the eighth inning to give Boston the 5-1 advantage (more)

Aerosmith is set to rock out at Boston’s TD Garden with Cheap Trick July 17th and 19th as part of their 2012 “Global Warming Tour.” Back in May the band debuted their new single “Legendary Child” on the season finale of American Idol. Their upcoming fifteenth studio album Music From Another Dimension! will drop in stores this fall. The veteran rockers last played in their hometown with J. Geils Band at Fenway Park in 2010. (more)

Durant Scores 24 in USA Win Over DR

Three-time NBA scoring champion Kevin Durant shot 9-of-11 from the field for 24 points and collected 10 rebounds, leading his team of fellow All-Stars to win big over the Dominican Republic 113-59 in Team USA’s first exhibition contest Thursday night at Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas. (more)

Patriots, Saints to Practice Together

The New England Patriots and New Orleans Saints will hold a pair of joint practice sessions the week of their August 9th preseason matchup at Gillette Stadium. The plans have been discussed for quite some time between Patriots coach Bill Belichick and Saints interim coach Joe Vitt, as it would be the second time in three years the two teams have practiced together. Brandon Bass Re-Signs With C’s

The Boston Celtics have reached an agreement with Brandon Bass on Thursday, signing the seven-year power forward to a three year deal worth $20 million. The Celtics also secured Kevin Garnett for an additional three years last week. Boston’s starting five is back intact with the frontcourt of Bass and Garnett alongside Rajon Rondo, Avery Bradley and Paul Pierce. (more)

David Ortiz Hits 400th Home Run

David Ortiz sent a solo shot deep to right field for his 400th career home run but the Red Sox couldn’t cap the night on top, falling to the Oakland A’s 3-2 yesterday at Coliseum. Ortiz is the sixth player to reach 400 home runs while in a Red Sox uniform and the first since Manny Ramirez in 2005. (more)

Celtics, Draft Picks Negotiate Contracts

The Boston Celtics have reached agreement with first-round picks Jared Sullinger and Fab Melo and second-round pick Kris Joseph just one day after introducing the rookies. Terms of the contracts were not announced, but it’s projected that both Sullinger and Melo will earn over $1 million this coming season. (more)

Red Sox Fall to Reddick, A’s

Former Red Sox outfielders Josh Reddick and Brandon Moss homered to force Daisuke Matsuzaka to an early exit, leading the Oakland A’s past the Boston Red Sox 6-1 Monday at Coliseum. Matsuzaka left the game with a stiff neck after recording just three outs. With the All-Star break approaching, it’s likely that Dice-K will find himself back on the disabled list over the next few days. (more)

Celtics Draft Jared Sullinger, Fab Melo

The Boston Celtics selected Ohio State forward Jared Sullinger and Syracuse center Fab Melo with the 21st and 22nd overall picks in the NBA draft on Thursday night. Sullinger would have been a lottery pick had he entered the draft in 2011. He averaged 17.5 points and 9.2 rebounds last season while battling back problems to help the Buckeyes advance to the Final Four. (more)
