The New York Giants defied the odds once again, when they won their 3rd straight road playoff game. The Giants defeated the Packers 23-20 in overtime to advance to Super Bowl XLII against the New England Patriots on February 3rd in Glendale, AZ. (more)

Recap: The Boston Bruins may be this year’s sleeper team in the East because they have nothing to lose but more games. The Boston fan base is so distracted with the Patriots, Celtics, and Red Sox madness that there is absolutely no pressure on the Bruins. If they can keep their cool they will be a playoff team and once its playoff time, anything is possible in Boston. (more)

2008 Beanpot Hockey Tickets Now Available

Boston’s 56th annual Beanpot of Hockey will be held on 2/4 and 2/11 at the TD Banknorth Garden in Boston. This treasured college hockey tradition features Boston University, Boston College, Harvard and Northeastern in a two round tournament. Mets Holding Out for Santana Deal

The Mets have been suspiciously quiet this offseason.  The only real move of note is trading Lastings Milledge for Brian Schneider and Ryan Church.  Sources close to the Mets seem to believe that Omar Minaya is holding out for a 4-1 type deal for Johan Santana to be worked out.

Marlins Inch Closer to Stadium Deal

The Miami-Dade County Commission has approved a measure that may allot $350-$400 million for a new Marlins stadium.  The venue would replace the aging Orange Bowl, and would also be partially funded by the team (to the tune of $155 million).  If an agreement is reached, it could have a number of effects on the two-time World Series Champions.  The Florida Marlins would likely be renamed the Miami Marlins.  With a new, more inviting home, owner Jeff Loria would be far more likely to spend money on players that would improve the franchise.
