Celtics Regain Momentum, Handle Sixers 107-91

Kevin Garnett netted 12-of-17 from the floor for 27 points while collecting 13 rebounds during Boston’s 107-91 Game 3 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers last night at Wells Fargo Center. After a disappointing Game 2 loss at TD Garden Monday night, the Celtics were able to regroup and take back home court advantage in convincing fashion. (more)

Beckett K’s 9 in Sox Win Over Mariners

Josh Beckett struck out nine and scattered four hits over seven innings of work to lead the Boston Red Sox past the Seattle Mariners 5-0 last night at Fenway Park. The victory helped the 11-year veteran somewhat redeem himself to the Fenway Faithful after a frustrating start to the regular season. (more)

Wes Welker Signs Patriots Franchise Tender

Patriots veteran wide-out Wes Welker will be joining his team at mandatory minicamp next month, as he recently signed his franchise tender worth $9.5 million in hopes to begin long-term contract negotiations. “I signed my tender today. Hawks Hold Off Celtics, Push Game 6

Hawks center Al Horford came up big in his first start in over three months, contributing 19 points and 11 rebounds to lead Atlanta past the Boston Celtics 87-86 last night at Philips Arena. Horford’s presence was crucial down the stretch, as he hit the Hawks’ final two baskets and held off Celtics PG Rajon Rondo in the closing seconds to send the series back to Boston for Game 6. Middlebrooks Hits 2 HRs in Sox Win Over Royals

Rookie third baseman Will Middlebrooks drove in five runs with two homers during yesterday’s 11-5 win over the Kansas City Royals to help Boston snap their recent five-game losing streak. Middlebrooks was called up last week after Kevin Youkilis went on the disabled list with a back injury. (more)

The Boston Celtics will look to close out their first-round series against the Atlanta Hawks following last night’s 101-76 win at TD Garden. The Hawks had the early advantage in this round due to a Game 1 victory and Rajon Rondo’s Game 2 suspension. The C’s have since played inspired basketball, now holding a 3-1 series lead with Game 5 set for Tuesday night at Philips Arena. The series would then shift back to Boston for Game 6 to be played this Thursday if necessary. (more)
