Chris Kelly Lifts Bruins Past Caps in OT

Thanks to goalie Tim Thomas and center Chris Kelley, The Boston Bruins won Game 1 of the first round of the playoffs in dramatic fashion. The game remained scoreless until overtime when Kelley’s slapshot slipped through Washington Capital’s goalie Braden Holtby. (more)

Bruins Top Rangers 2-1, Clinch Division

With the 2-1 win against the New York Rangers on Sunday April 1, the Boston Bruins have clinched first place in the Northeast Division as well as a playoff spot. Tim Thomas was the winning goalie for the Bruins, saving 33 and only allowing one in in the first period to Rangers’ right wing Marian Gaborik. (more)

ACE Boston Player Feature: Zdeno Chara

Player of the Week honors goes to Boston Bruins captain Zdeno Chara for playing in his 1000th career game this past weekend. Chara comes from Trencin, Czechoslovakia and is a 6’9, 255lb, lefty defenseman. He has played on six hockey teams in his career, including three for the NHL. The 35-year old has been a leading member of the Bruins since 2006. (more)

Johnny Boychuk, Bruins Reach Three-Year Contract Exension

The Boston Bruins and defenseman Johnny Boychuk just recently agreed on a three-year contract extension. The five-year veteran is set to make $3.1 million, $3.4 million and $3.6 million over the terms of the new deal that also includes a limited no-trade clause. (more)

Seidenberg Blasts Bruins Past Senators

Defenseman Dennis Seidenberg fired in a slap shot from center ice 7:09 into the third period to cap Boston’s 4-3 comeback victory over the Ottawa Senators yesterday at TD Garden. What was supposed to be a play to push the puck into Ottawa’s zone became an unexpected score for the eight-year veteran. (more)
