Shaq Listed Probable for Game 4

Posted by Ace Staff on April 21st, 2011

Boston Celtics center Shaquille O’Neal traveled with the team yesterday in anticipation for Games 3 and 4 at Madison Square Garden this weekend. The entire Celtics roster made the trip out with a 2-0 series lead over their Eastern Conference rival New York Knicks. “If he’s closer to playing – you know how we’ve done it – if you see him on the trip he’s really close,” Celtics coach Doc Rivers said of Shaq. “If he goes on the trip, that means we think he’ll play that Sunday.” O’Neal missed 45 games this season due to injuries in his right knee, calf and Achilles, playing just 5 1/2 minutes since February 1st. Knicks starters Amare Stoudemire and Chauncey Billups are both listed as questionable for Game 3 Friday night. Billups had blood drained from his strained left knee after undergoing an MRI exam Wednesday. Stoudemire has been battling back spasms since leaving Tuesday’s game early in the second quarter. Knicks Win 5 Straight, Move Into 6th Seed

Posted by Ace Staff on April 7th, 2011

Carmelo Anthony produced 31 points and 11 rebounds while Amare Stoudemire netted 18 to lead their New York Knicks past the Philadelphia 76ers 97-92 Wednesday night at Wells Fargo Center. Andre Iguodala pulled the Sixers within one with his first 3-pointer of the game, setting the stage for Anthony to supply the final dagger from downtown in the remaining seconds to put the game out of reach. The Knicks have now moved into the sixth spot in the Eastern Conference ahead of the 76ers and Indiana Pacers with a 40-38 regular season record. After losing six games in a row the Knicks have found their rhythm, defeating the Magic, Nets, Cavaliers and Raptors at home before edging the Sixers on the road. “We’re keeping the momentum going, we’re keeping the streak going,” said Anthony. “We wanted to win. I don’t really care about six or seven.” New York is next set to matchup against the Nets and Pacers away before hosting the Chicago Bulls to mark their last home game Tuesday, April 12th. Their final regular season contest will take place in Boston the following day. Check here for the best New York Knicks regular season and playoff ticket deals.

Knicks Complete Trade With Nuggets for Carmelo

Posted by Ace Staff on February 22nd, 2011

The New York Knicks and Denver Nuggets have agreed to a blockbuster three-team deal that will send Carmelo Anthony to join forces with Amar’e Stoudemire back east. The former Syracuse University star player publicly stated his desire to play for New York before starting his seventh regular season in Denver. The Knicks expect to sign Anthony to a three-year, $65 million extension in the process. As a part of the deal, New York will send Wilson Chandler, Raymond Felton, Danilo Gallinari, Timofey Mozgov and a 2014 first-round draft pick to the Nuggets in exchange for Anthony, Chauncey Billups, Shelden Williams, Anthony Carter and Renaldo Balkman.  The Knicks have also reached agreement to ship Anthony Randolph, the expiring contract of Eddy Curry and $3 million to the Minnesota Timberwolves for Corey Brewer. Denver coach George Karl will look to get his team refocused after a season so far packed with rumors and media headlines. “I’m glad it’s over. I’m glad it’s an opportunity to reinvent,” he said. “I think everybody handled it as classy as you could handle it. There’s some sadness to it, there always will be.” The Knicks will hope to have Carmelo in uniform Wednesday night when they host the Milwaukee Bucks. New York Knicks tickets are now available!

New York to Host 2011 MLS All-Star Game

Posted by Ace Staff on February 2nd, 2011

-Mark Fuery Major League Soccer announced on Tuesday afternoon that the 2011 MLS All-Star Game will be played on July 27 at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, N.J., home of the New York Red Bulls. This will be the first time the game will be held in the New York area since 1997, when the league used the old East vs. West format. Since 2005, the MLS has picked a team of All-Stars to face a renowned international club in an attempt to showcase the league’s talents to the world. Last season, the MLS stars lost to the Manchester United by a score of 5-2, making the United the first team to beat the MLS squad in regulation time. Last year’s game was played in Houston’s Reliant Stadium in front of a crowd of more than 70,000. This year the scene will be very different, as Red Bull Arena is a much smaller soccer-specific venue, with a capacity of only 25,000. Despite its small size, Red Bull Arena is considered one of the premier soccer venues in the United States. The opponent for the 2011 game will be announced at a later date.
