Celtics Survive Bucks, Win in OT

Posted by Ace Staff on November 16th, 2008

A tired Boston Celtics team was able to fight off a late Bucks rally to finish with the win in overtime last night in Milwaukee.  The win put the Celtics at 9-2 on the year while the Bucks dropped to 5-6.  The Celtics were playing their 8th game in 12 days and at times looked like they could use a rest.  Boston will get two days to rest before facing the Knicks on Tuesday 11/18 at the TD Banknorth Garden. The Celtics held a strong 50-38 lead going into the third period and looked poised to cruise to the win.  The Bucks however would erase Boston’s 12 point lead in the 4th quarter to force OT.  The Celtics had the edge in the end, winning 102-97 thanks in large part to Paul Pierce’s 28 points.  Celtics tickets are available for all games including Tuesday night’s matchup with the New York Knicks.

Pierce Erupts For 22 in 4th, Celtics Get the Win

Posted by Ace Staff on November 11th, 2008

If there’s one criticism for the 2008-2009 Boston Celtics its their slow starts in games. The Celtics have had terrible first periods so far this year. The good news of course is that they have displayed a tremendous ability to fight back, shut down the opponents’ offense and pull away with the win.  In this game the Celtics actually found themselves down after three quarters but got a memorable performance out of Paul Pierce in the fourth to secure the win. Pierce absolutely dominated with 22 points in the 4th and 36 points for the game. It was a good game all around for the Big Three. Kevin Garnett had 21 points and 10 rebounds while Ray Allen dropped 19 points on the Raptors.  The loss for the Raptors was particularly upsetting for Jermaine O’Neal who had a great game for Toronto with 23 points and 11 rebounds.  The win put the Celtics at 7-1 on the year. The Celtics will host the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday 11/12. Great Celtics tickets are available for this and all Celtics games.

Winless Wizards Struggling Without Arenas

Posted by Ace Staff on November 11th, 2008

The Washington Wizards are off to a 0-5 record to start the season. Superstar point guard Gilbert Arenas has been out since September after his third knee surgery procedure. Arenas will not return until mid-January at the earliest, and the future of the Wizards team without him is uncertain. Even Antawn Jamison, who played with a passion during Arenas’ absence least year, seems uninterested. The Wizards hope that a big pep talk will help them score a big win against the 5-1 Utah Jazz on Wednesday night. Great deals are avaiable for Washington Wizards Tickets Now!

Injury-Plagued Warriors Face Struggling Timberwolves

Posted by Ace Staff on November 11th, 2008

For most of the season so far, the Golden State Warriors have been without Monta Ellis, Corey Maggette, and Al Harrington. The anemic Warriors offense will get a boost from the return of Al Harrington in tonight’s game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Minnesota hasn’t won since their season-opener, and has struggled in all aspects of their game. Stephen Jackson and Andris Biedrins have kept the well-rounded but relatively inexperienced Warriors team in contention while they deal with injuries. Tip-off is at 10:30pm EST tonight. Golden State Warriors Tickets are available for every game this season!

Portland Beats Orlando for First Road Win

Posted by Ace Staff on November 11th, 2008

The Portland Trailblazers have had a tough start to their season. Of the seven games they have played so far, six of them were against teams that won at least 52 games least year; three of which the Trailblazers won. Portland ended the Orlando Magic’s four-game winning streak, and highlighted the Magic’s recent troubles with scoring off the bench. Outside of their top six men, no one on the Magic is averaging more than four points a game. Despite 35 points from Hedo Turkoglu and 29 from Dwight Howard, the team only managed to get double digit points from two other players. The Trailblazers (still without last year’s #1 pick Greg Oden) benefited from 40 points off their bench, versus the Magic’s twelve. Portland finished strong and held on to secure their first road win of the season. Portland Trailblazers Tickets and Orlando Magic Tickets are available now!

Celtics Shutdown Pistons; Host Raptors Tonight

Posted by Ace Staff on November 10th, 2008

The Boston Celtics spoiled the home debut of Allen Iverson last night. The stifling Celtics defense held the Pistons to 35% shooting and Iverson only got 10 points on 4-11 shooting. Iverson adds another dimension to an already vibrant rivalry between these two teams. He got a huge ovation when introduced for the first time in Detroit last night. The Pistons however we unable to capitalize off the crowd’s energy and lost 88-76. The Boston Celtics bench played a large role in last night’s win. Tony Allen had a game high 23 points off the bench while the Celtics’ superstars had an off night. Garnett and Pierce combined for only 15 points. Ray Allen managed to drop 17 points and Rajon Rondo added 13. The win puts the Celtics at 6-1 on the year. The Celtics will host the Toronto Raptors tonight 11/10 and on Wednesday night they welcome in the Atlanta Hawks. Great Celtics tickets are available for both of these games. Check them out now.

Celtics Dispose of Bucks 101-89

Posted by Ace Staff on November 8th, 2008

For the second straight game the Boston Celtics found themselves behind after the first quarter. The Milwaukee Bucks came out strong led by Richard Jefferson’s early 6-6 shooting performance but were unable to hold the lead before the half. The Celtics would finish the half up 55-47. Jefferson finished the game with 20 points for the Bucks. Paul Pierce played a large part in the Celtics’ comeback last night. He finished with a team high 18 points with 10 rebounds added in. The win was the 5th on the year for the Celtics (5-1) who have held all six of their opponents under 100 points. Defense continues to win games for the defending champions. The Celtics will play their next home game on 11/10 vs the Toronto Raptors at the TD Banknorth Garden. Celtics tickets are available for this and all Boston games.

Spurs Lose Parker to Injury, Game to Heat

Posted by Ace Staff on November 8th, 2008

The San Antonio Spurs got more bad news than going to 1-4 on the year. They also had to deal with the fact that Tony Parker could be out for a significant amount of time. Parker, who was coming off a spectacular 55 point game left this game with a sprained ankle. Parker could be out 2-4 weeks, making it a possibly long month for an already struggling Spurs team. The Miami Heat improved to 3-2 on the year and got a great game out of Dwyane Wade. Wade dropped 33 points and had 10 rebounds for the Heat. The Spurs will host the Knicks on Tuesday 11/11 which can’t hurt their chances of picking up a win. They’ll play in Milwaukee the following night before returning home to host the Houston Rockets on 11/14. San Antonio Spurs tickets are available for all remaining games.

Boston Celtics Win In OK City

Posted by Ace Staff on November 6th, 2008

After a slow start in Oklahoma last night, the Boston Celtics clamped down on the Thunder to cruise to their 4th win of the year. Paul Pierce led the way for the Celtics with 20 points and 9 rebounds in the 96-83 victory. It was the Celtics’ first game and first win against the relocated Sonics team. The Celtics gave up 29 points in the 1st quarter as the Thunder came out strong. Boston clearly has a large target on their backs and should expect most teams to come out gunning against them. The Celtics turned it around in the 2nd period scoring 30 and holding the Thunder to just 15 points. Rajon Rondo chipped in with 11 assists while Kendrick Perkins had 4 blocked shots. Boston Celtics tickets are available for all home games including their 11/7 game against the Milwaukee Bucks.

San Antonio Spurs Get 1st Win, 2OTs

Posted by Ace Staff on November 6th, 2008

It took four games and a double over time, but the San Antonio Spurs got their first win of the year last night against the Timberwolves. The end result was a 129-125 victory in which Tony Parker scored a career high 55 points, the biggest 2 coming on a 20 foot buzzer beater to send the game into the 2nd OT. The Timberwolves who also stand at 1-3 now, did everything they could to hang in there with the Spurs. They got a huge night out of Al Jefferson who scored 30, with 14 rebounds and 3 assists. The Spurs have gotten off to slow starts in recent years only to turn it on in the final weeks. They’re certainly hoping to avoid that pattern this year. They’ll be looking for their 2nd win of the season on 11/7 when they host the Miami Heat. San Antonio Spurs tickets are available for all 2008-2009 games.
