Celtics Dominate Nets Again

Posted by Ace Staff on January 19th, 2009

The last time the Celtics and Nets met, the Celtics made it look easy in a 118-86 rout. Saturday night’s game was no different, with the C’s nearly doubling up on New Jersey in the first half. The Celtics benefited from Rajon Rondo’s near triple double (9 rebounds, 14 assists, and 8 points, along with 2 steals),  solid play off the bench from Leon Powe and Eddie House, and Ray Allen’s 25 point effort. “It was a great start,” C’s coach Doc Rivers told the AP. “It’s one of the things we talked about. If you get off to a good start, it gives you a chance to play well the whole game. I thought the whole team was running well.” The Celtics will host the Phoenix Suns at home tonight at the Garden. Keep your eyes on Shaquille O’Neal’s Twitter feed in case he any enlightening post-game comments. Boston Celtics Tickets are available now!

Celtics Back in Form With Win Over Nets

Posted by Ace Staff on January 15th, 2009

Last night’s 118-86 rout of the New Jersey Nets was just what the Boston Celtics needed.  The win was the third in a row for the Celtics who recently had a 2-7 slump to deal with.  The last three games have seen the Celtics really return to form.  Now at the halfway point of the season the Celtics’ record is 32-9 just two games off of last year’s pace. Paul Pierce did most of the scoring last night for Boston with 22 points total. Pierce went 5-5 on 3 pointers in the 3rd quarter putting the Celtics well out in front of the Nets.  Kevin Garnett added 20 points and 9 rebounds.  Glen Davis added 12 points off the bench. Last night’s loss was the sixth straight for the Nets against the Celtics. They’ll get another shot on Saturday night when Boston visits the Nets in New Jersey.  The Celtics will be back at the Garden on 1/19 to host the Suns.  Celtics tickets are available for this and all remaining 2009 games.

Celtics Top Raptors on 39 Points by Pierce

Posted by Ace Staff on January 13th, 2009

Paul Pierce was determined to get the Celtics past the Raptors last night. The team leader dropped 39 points on Toronto scoring 9 of them in OT to seal the 115-109 victory by the Boston Celtics.  Pierce played 49 minutes in Monday night’s game despite the fact that he had a bad knee due to a collision in Sunday’s game.  Kevin Garnett added 20 points and 12 rebounds for Boston.  The win was Boston’s 2nd in a row after losing 7 of 9 and put the Celtics at 31-9 on the year. After playing 2 in a row against the Raptors, the Celtics will do the same with the New Jersey Nets. The Nets will play the Celtics at the TD Banknorth Garden on Wednesday 1/14 and the Celtics will travel to New Jersey for Saturday’s game with the Nets.  Celtics tickets are available for these and all Celtics games both at home and on the road.

Celtics Look to Bounce Back vs Cavs

Posted by Ace Staff on January 9th, 2009

The Boston Celtics have been on a 2-6 skid since having their winning streak derailed by the Los Angeles Lakers. Amid speculation of acquiring Knick Stephon Marbury and the rapidly approaching trade deadline, the C’s need to either right the ship or figure out what they need. The Cavaliers, looking for revenge for being knocked out of the playoffs last year and an opening night loss this year, have usurped the C’s as top team in the NBA in most power rankings. Tip-off is at 8:00pm at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland. 2009 Boston Celtics tickets are available now!

Blazers in Trouble if Miles Signs

Posted by Ace Staff on January 9th, 2009

The Portland Trail Blazers will be in trouble if Darius Miles plays two more games this season. Drafted by the Blazers in 2000, Miles underwent microfracture surgery in 2006 and had his salary taken off the books under a classification of “career ending injury”. After 6 preseason games with Boston, and two regular season games with the Grizzlies, Miles is just two games away from going back on the books for Portland. If his salary is reinstated, the Trailblazers will not only go over the salary cap, but they will also have less money at their disposal for signing new free agents next year. While the Blazers have e-mailed GM’s asking for them to not play Miles, all teams stand to earn $250,000 in revenue sharing if Portland goes over the cap (versus the $28,000 it would cost to play Miles for two games). Portland Trailblazers tickets are available now!

Source: Celtics and Marbury Closer To A Deal

Posted by Ace Staff on January 6th, 2009

ESPN’s Marc Stein is reporting that Stephon Marbury’s falling out with the New York Knicks could lead to him playing for the Green. With the losses of James Posey and PJ Brown, and the free agent pool quickly dwindling; Marbury could be a low-cost veteran precence off of the bench. Despite recent failures in buyout discussions with the Knicks, Stein’s source says that “it will happen” in due time.  “I didn’t want to be a distraction for the team first and me second” Marbury wrote on his New York Post Blog. “I honestly came to help the team win. Real talk. I was willing to put in the work necessary to earn my starting spot and humble enough to accept coming off of the bench.” The Knicks beat the Celtics 100 to 88 on Saturday in New York.  Boston shot just 29.5% in the second half, and failed to capitalize on late chances to take the game back. Celtics Streak Halted By Lakers

Posted by Ace Staff on December 26th, 2008

20 straight wins would have been a great Christmas present from the Boston Celtics to their fans but alas they were bound to lose one sooner or later.  Most in Boston would have preffered any team beat them other than the Los Angeles Lakers however.  The Lakers won this mini battle yesterday at the Staples Center with an impressive defensive showing in their 92-83 win over Boston.  The win improved the Lakers’ record to 24-5 while the Celtics move to 27-3.  The game between last year’s Championship rivals had the feel of a Finals game despite the fact that this season isn’t half over. Both teams still have a long road ahead before they meet in any seriously important games. Kobe Bryant was the scoring leader for the Lakers in this one with 27 points and 9 rebounds.  Boston meanwhile got a great shooting game out of Kevin Garnett who added 22 points and 9 rebounds.  Paul Pierce scored 20 with 10 rebounds but failed to score in the crucial 4th quarter.  The win for the Lakers was Phil Jackson’s 1,000th career win as a head coach. The Celtics and Lakers will meet again on 2/5/09 at the TD Banknorth Garden in Boston. Celtics vs Lakers tickets are available for this game.

Celtics Set Franchise Mark, Win 19 Straight

Posted by Ace Staff on December 24th, 2008

What more can you say about the Boston Celtics?  At 27-2 this team is determined not to suffer a Championship hangover and are early favorites to repeat in 2009.  The Celtics beat the 76ers last night 110-91 in Boston for a new franchise record 19 wins in a row.  To reach the 20 wins in a row mark the Celtics will go up against a much improved and equally impressive Los Angeles Lakers team on Christmas Day at the Staples Center in L.A. The Celtics were led by Kevin Garnett and Rajon Rondo last night with each player dropping 18 points on Philadelphia.  For their part the Celtics remained grounded about their success. They know that a win streak doesn’t equal a Championship. Just ask the once 19-0 Patriots how that goes.  The Celtics will return to the TD Banknorth Garden on 1/2/09 to face the Washington Wizards.  Boston plays its next four games on the road.  Boston Celtics tickets are available for all 2009 games.

Celtics Come From Behind to Win 16th Straight

Posted by Ace Staff on December 18th, 2008

The Atlanta Hawks seemed to be in control when the 4th Quarter started last night. Kevin Garnett had other plans. KG was only 2-10 shooting from the floor in the first three quarters, but exploded with a dominant 5-5 fourth. In a low-scoring, high-defense game, the C’s managed to drop 29 on the Hawks in the final quarter to seal a 88-85 win. Many sports writers had this game picked out as the most possible streak-ender for the C’s – The Hawks held Boston winless in Atlanta last year in the playoffs. The win puts the Celtics in a great position to make a run for not only the longest NBA winning streak, but also the best record in NBA history. Boston Celtics tickets are available now!

Rondo Has Another Stellar Night, C's Win 15th In a Row

Posted by Ace Staff on December 16th, 2008

Despite losing Captain Paul Pierce to a minor knee injury in the 4th quarter, the Celtics pulled off their 15th consecutive win on Monday Night. Rajon Rondo had a ridiculous night, racking up a career-high 25 points, 9 rebounds, and 8 assists. Both Rondo and Kendrick Perkins were part of a late-game defensive stand that preserved the C’s slim lead, and eventually put the game out of reach. While the Big 3 are a huge part of the winning streak, the youth movement is a force to be reckoned with. The Celtics play the next game Wednesday at Atlanta. Boston Celtics Tickets are available for all games now.
