Lakers Anxious to Get Back to Finals

Posted by Ace Staff on April 15th, 2009

The Los Angeles Lakers will be the #1 rank in the Western conference going into the 2009 playoffs.  They are currently 64-17 with just one game to go against the Utah Jazz.  Utah sits at the #8 seed with a lot riding on their last regular season match up.  If they can beat LA, they might be able to avoid playing them in the opening round. The Dallas Mavericks are now one game ahead of the Jazz with a 49-32 record.  Whoever LA will match up against they will keep their confidence, knowing they haven?t lost this season to either team.  After coming so close to winning an NBA title last season, the Lakers have only improved.  Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol have been stellar all season, as Lamar Odom, Sasha Vujacic, and Trevor Ariza have given more than enough support. The one team that might be able to stop the Lakers run early on will be the San Antonio Spurs in the second round.  They hold the #5 seed in the West but have been on a roll the last couple of weeks.  Between Tony Parker, Tim Duncan, and Manu Ginobili, they know what it takes to win a championship.  If the Lakers and Spurs meet in the second round, it should make for one of the most thrilling series all year. Game 1 for the Lakers will take place at the Staples Center Saturday, April 18th.  Los Angeles Lakers Playoff Tickets are now available!

Celtics Gearing Up For Playoffs This Saturday

Posted by Ace Staff on April 14th, 2009

With two games left to play in the 2009 regular season, the defending champion Boston Celtics are ready to make their next run at an NBA title.  They will either match up for the opening round against the Philadelphia 76ers or the Chicago Bulls.  The Sixers are currently a 1/2 game ahead of the Bulls with a 40-40 record.  Chicago has one game left against the Raptors, and Philly will be challenged by the Celtics and the #1 seeded Cleveland Cavaliers in their final two games. The C’s have matched up against the Sixers very well this year, winning all three contests thus far.  They went 2-1 against the Bulls, losing in Chicago last March.  With home court advantage on their side, Boston should be able to handle either team in a series. Kevin Garnett recently stated that he will be sidelined for the remainder of the regular season.  They are going to need him for the playoffs in round 2 when they run into the Cavs.  After losing 76-107 last Sunday in Cleveland, Boston will be fired up to prove themselves as real contenders.  If Garnett comes back healthy for the post-season and the rest of the C’s continue to play their game, the Celtics could be in the midst of possibly earning their second straight NBA championship. Regardless of who they play, the Celtics are set to host game 1 of the 1st round this Saturday at the TD Banknorth Garden. Tip off will likely be 12:30 or 1:00 pm. Celtics Playoff tickets are now available.

Rondo Leads Celtics to Win Over Nets

Posted by Ace Staff on April 9th, 2009

Rajon Rondo scored 31 points with nine rebounds and five assists to help the Boston Celtics hold on to win against the New Jersey Nets 106-104 last night in Boston.  Eddie House and Ray Allen chipped in with 15 and 12 points, hitting five of nine shots together from beyond the arc.  The win helped the C’s keep their one-game advantage for second place over the Orlando Magic. Last year head coach Doc Rivers was able to rest the big 3 in the last weeks of the regular season.  With four games left to play this time around the starters will be apart of the action. “The more important thing is just building on something going into the playoffs,” said Celtics captain Paul Pierce.  We’ve won five in a row, but we want to be playing well.” Vince Carter led the Nets in scoring with 33 points while pulling down 12 boards.  New Jersey had previously been eliminated from the playoffs when the Pistons beat the Knicks last Wednesday.  “To fall short is just disappointing,” said Carter. “I think people were picking us to be last in the league – in the East, period.  We showed otherwise. The Celtics will next be heading down to Detroit to match up against the Pistons tomorrow night at 8:00 pm.  Boston Celtics tickets are still available here at Aceticket.com!

Celtics Edge Bobcats in 2 OT Thriller

Posted by Ace Staff on April 2nd, 2009

Ray Allen hit the go ahead 3-pointer with 2.1 seconds remaining for the Celtics to beat the Charlotte Bobcats 111-109 in double overtime.  After missing the rim completely on an attempted jump shot with 33 seconds left in the period, Allen remained poised and drained the one they really needed. “That’s Ray,” said Celtics captain Paul Pierce.  “He’s a future Hall of Famer, and great players find a way.  When Ray shoots and misses shots, it doesn’t discourage him.”  Pierce led the Celtics in scoring with 32 points, followed by Allen with 22.  Rajon Rondo and Eddie House supplied 39 combined points for the Celtics, and were two of the major factors for Boston’s second half comeback. Celtics coach Doc Rivers couldn?t be happier with last night?s results going into the last few games of the regular season.  “There were so many times when we were down and could’ve gave up, and just made big shots,” said Rivers. “Our guys executed down the stretch.” Boston remains one game ahead of the Orlando Magic for second place in the Eastern conference with the win.  They will host the Atlanta Hawks next this Friday night at 7:30 pm. Boston Celtics tickets are now available!

Davis, Celtics Blaze Past Thunder

Posted by Ace Staff on March 31st, 2009

Glen Davis stepped up down the stretch, scoring 15 of his 19 points in the final 10 minutes of the Celtics’ 103-84 contest against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday night in Boston.  He took an elbow to the head in the third quarter and was taken in for stitches.  Until then he had only contributed with 2 points for the C’s. “I was just ready to win, just tried to push the lead up as much as possible because we were supposed to blow these guys out,” said Davis. “Luckily I got this in the head and it sparked something in me for some odd reason.” The win put the Celtics ahead of the Orlando Magic for the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference.  They remain five games behind Lebron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers with just seven to play. Paul Pierce led Boston in scoring with 27, and Eddie House and Ray Allen followed up with 16 and 14. Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant led Oklahoma City with 23 and 21 points.  After being outscored 32-16 in the fourth quarter, the result marked their fifth loss in their last 6 games. The Celtics will next host the Charlotte Bobcats this Wednesday April 1st at 7:30 pm.  Boston Celtics tickets are still available

Celtics Fall Short in Orlando

Posted by Ace Staff on March 26th, 2009

In a battle for the second spot in the Eastern Conference standings with the playoffs just weeks away, the Orlando Magic found a way in the final minutes to stay ahead of the Boston Celtics.  Dwight Howard had 24 points, 21 rebounds, and blocked the potential go ahead lay up by Paul Pierce with 3.8 seconds left.  Rashard Lewis finished with 21 points, and Hedo Turkoglu contributed with 13 points and four assists. With the win the Magic were able to claim their second straight Southeast Division title. Pierce led Boston in scoring with 26 points and Ray Allen followed with 16 in their efforts.  The Celtics may have a tough road ahead for the post-season if they have to travel to Orlando and Cleveland on their quest to get back to the championship.  “Our guys don’t care about home court.  They want to get healthy,” said Celtics head coach Doc Rivers. “And when we get healthy, we’re willing to lace up against anybody.” The Celtics will travel to Atlanta for their next game against the Hawks this Friday at 7:30 pm.  They will need to put together a win streak for their final 9 games to regain home court advantage. Boston Celtics tickets are now available!

Celtics Back in Top Form vs. Clippers

Posted by Ace Staff on March 25th, 2009

Ray Allen led the charge for Boston with 20 points as they went on to defeat the LA Clippers 90-77 last night in Boston.  Kevin Garnett hit all five of his attempted field goals in his 18 minutes played, finishing with 12 points.  Rajon Rondo ran the floor well for the C’s contributing 14 points with seven assists. Zach Randolf scored 17 points with 14 rebounds for LA.  Baron Davis had a great all around game with 13 points, seven rebounds and eight assists.  The key for the Celtics was converting the Clippers 25 turnovers into 25 points.  “You definitely can’t let the Celtics get a lot of easy buckets,” said Clippers Marcus Camby. “They are one of the efficient teams, offensively, in the league and if you give them the extra point on turnovers, it’s going to make it impossible to beat a team like that.? The Celtics have been on a role lately winning four straight as they head to Orlando to square off against the Magic this Wednesday at 8:00  pm.  Orlando is currently just one game behind Boston in the East. Boston Celtics tickets are now available!

Howard Leads Orlando to Victory Over Bucks

Posted by Ace Staff on March 20th, 2009

Dwight Howard had 28 points, 12 rebounds, and was just 3 assists shy of a triple double to help the Orlando Magic blow out the Milwaukee Bucks 106-80 Wednesday night.  Hedo Turkoglu netted 14 points with 10 rebounds as the Magic went on to earn their eighth win in 10 games. The Bucks are fighting desperately for the last spot in the playoffs with a 31-39 record.  Their next game will be against the Portland Trailblazers at home before they hit the road for four games. The win for Orlando marked their second consecutive season with 50+ wins.  “Other people can downplay winning a division title or winning 50 games,” said head coach Stan Van Gundy.  “I’m appreciative of our guys’ effort and what it takes to get to 50 wins.  To do it two years in a row is a measure of your organization getting better and getting some consistency.  Look for the Magic to host the New York Knicks for their next game on Saturday, March 21st. Orlando Magic tickets are available now!

Garnett and Allen take Flight with the C’s

Posted by Ace Staff on March 19th, 2009

Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen were sighted boarding the team’s plane to San Antonio for tomorrow night’s game against the Spurs.  Garnett has been injured since February 19th and Allen recently suffered a hyper extended elbow last Tuesday against the Bulls. This will mark the first time Garnett has traveled with the team since his injury.  Celtics head coach Doc Rivers said they are going to take Garnett’s possible return day by day.  With this said, for the past two practices Garnett has been involved in successful work outs and could be ready to go Friday.  After San Antonio the C’s will head to Memphis, Tennessee for a Saturday night game against the Grizzlies. Boston Celtics tickets are now available!
