Red Sox Top Nationals in Spring Training Finale

In their final game of Spring Training, the Boston Red Sox went up against the Washington Nationals, winning 8-7. The game started off heading in the direction of a Red Sox blow out, but by the end, they barely scraped by with the win. Clay Buchholz started against Nationals’ pitcher Edwin Jackson. (more)

Valentine Confirms Starting Rotation

Bobby Valentine and the Boston Red Sox have solidified their starting rotation with lefty Felix Doubront as the #4 starter and righty Daniel Bard as the #5 starter. Though Alfredo Aceves also did well enough this spring to earn starting honors, he will play an integral role in relief for a team struggling with bullpen options. (more)

Red Sox Rotation Remains Undecided

With the 2012 regular season coming in less than a week, Bobby Valentine and the Boston Red Sox still have to solidify their starting rotation. Jon Lester, Josh Beckett, and Clay Buchholz all appear to be in good health and will fill the first three starting roles. The last two spots have three qualified options in Daniel Bard, Alfredo Aceves, and Felix Doubront. (more)

Beckett, Red Sox Shutout Rays

Red Sox and Rays met again yesterday for a Spring Training game with the Sox crushing the Rays 8-0. They’ll play just one more game against each other on March 31 before gearing up for their first regular season match-up, the Sox home opener on April 13. (more)

Varitek Bids Farewell to Red Sox

It is the end of an era– Jason Varitek has retired. He made his baseball debut as a member of the Red Sox on September 24, 1997 and 14 years to almost the day, he played his last MLB game on September 25, 2011. The Sox will lose their dedicated captain, three-time All-Star, two-time World Series Champion, Silver Slugger and Gold Glove award winner. (more)
