Pats Fall Again on the Road

Posted by Ace Staff on December 7th, 2009

Following the disappointing 22-21 loss against the Miami Dolphins yesterday at Land Shark Stadium, Patriots QB Tom Brady didn’t wish to draw attention to any injuries. When asked how his finger problem was affecting his grip he said “A lot of guys are banged up at this time of year. You have to get the job done if you’re out there on the field and play great. At times we did that. Other times we didn’t.” He continued saying “It’s late in the year, it’s a physical game, you still have to go out and get the job done. I needed to come in and get some stuff taken care of; I’m not going to tell you guys.” Brady produced solid week 13 numbers, completing 19 passes for 352 yards and two touchdowns. Despite his efforts Miami found ways to snatch two INT’s. The crucial pick came with 10 minutes remaining on first down when the Pats were up two and in the redzone. Brady looked to WR Randy Moss but rookie Vontae Davis stepped in front to give Miami the extra opportunity from there. With 1:02 left in the game, Dan Carpenter sent a 41 yard kick through the uprights for the Dolphins to claim victory. New England is now just one game ahead of the New York Jets in the AFC East Division standings. Their only W away was in London’s neutral site against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Coach Bill Belichick kept it simple to the press Sunday afternoon, saying “I have to coach better. We have to play better, just do a better job.”  The Pats will try to regain their confidence next Sunday when they play host to the Carolina Panthers. New England Patriots tickets are now available!

Garnett Lifts C’s Past Heat

Posted by Ace Staff on November 30th, 2009

Kevin Garnett led his team with 24 points (11 of 12 shooting) as the Boston Celtics went on to defeat Dwayne Wade and the Miami Heat 92-85 last night at American Airlines Arena. The game was tight down the stretch until Ray Allen supplied final dagger 3-ball with 1:38 left to play. “You never can take anything for granted,” said Allen. “Every win is much needed. So you just have to create momentum. That’s important.” Rajon Rondo controlled the tempo once again for Boston with 13 points and 11 assists. Paul Pierce and Kendrick Perkins produced 31 combined as Allen followed up with 11. The C’s have three more road games ahead this week against the Charlotte Bobcats, San Antonio Spurs, and Oklahoma City Thunder before making their way back to Boston to face the Milwaukee Bucks December 8th. Wade netted a game-high 27 points and Michael Beasley finished with 18 for Miami. The Heat have lost five of their last seven but certainly show better than their record. “Tonight, there’s a lot of good things in a loss,” said Wade. “We were right there. The seasoned team, the veteran team made the plays they had to make at the end. They made the shots we had to make. We had good shots. We just didn’t make them and we missed free throws as well.” Miami will next travel to Portland to matchup with the Trail Blazers on Tuesday, December 1st.

NFL Changes Pats Dolphins Start Time

Posted by Ace Staff on November 24th, 2009

The National Football League has announced plans to alter the start time of the New England Patriots Miami Dolphins showdown at Land Shark Stadium on December 6th, moving the contest up from its original 8:20 PM slot to 1:00 PM ET.  The Minnesota Vikings and Arizona Cardinals will then take over the prime time position Sunday night. The Vikings (NFC North) and Cardinals (NFC West) both sit atop their respective divisions. The switch was created for the NFL to exercise its flexible scheduling with the purpose of “ensuring quality matchups in all NFL Sunday time slots.” The policy can be activated for each Sunday following Week 11 if necessary. The Pats Dolphins game could very well wrap up the AFC East for New England. They are currently looking ahead to their tough Week 12 contest against the New Orleans Saints Monday, November 30th. Miami trails the Patriots in the Division by two going into their next game vs the 3-7 Buffalo Bills.   New England Patriots tickets are now available!

James, Wade Share Center Stage

Posted by Ace Staff on November 13th, 2009

Dwayne Wade scored a game high 36 points for the Miami Heat in attempts to beat out his friendly nemesis LeBron James. Though LeBron failed to match Flash in points with 34, his Cleveland Cavaliers more importantly were able to notch the 111-104 win on the road at the American Airlines Arena. Buying a ticket to yesterday’s game meant you were in store for a full on performance involving two of the three best players in the NBA. The game was competitive on top of the marquee talent really going to work. “I like playing against LeBron more than anybody else in the league,” said Wade. “He brings out the best in me, and I bring out the best in him.”  James refused to answer any free agency questions, but earlier this week Wade confirmed that the two have talked about playing together someday. So far the likely choices for LeBron in 2010 (aside from re-signing with the Cavs) include the New York Knicks, New Jersey (or Brooklyn) Nets, and Miami Heat.

Pennington Sidelined for 2009

Posted by Ace Staff on September 29th, 2009

Miami Dolphins quarterback Chad Pennington has recently been diagnosed with a torn capsule in his throwing shoulder and will be expected to miss the rest of the season. TE Anthony Fasano spoke out on the situation, emphasizing the fact that together the team must move on. “We’re going to have to go out there with Henne, who is a lot less experienced,” said Fasano. “There is definitely going to be a learning curve for Henne. He can learn as much as he wants in a classroom, but until he’s out on the field, in-game experience he’s not going to learn.” Chad Henne being the man who was just promoted, has only completed 17 passes in his short NFL career. The 24 year old although lacking pro experience was a strong leader in his college days at the University of Michigan. Former U of M teammate and current Dolphins teammate Jake Long believes Miami can move forward confidently with Henne taking the snaps. ”He’s poised. He’s a leader,” said Long. “When he gets his chance, he’s going to do good.” The Dolphins next game is scheduled for Sunday, October 4th against the Buffalo Bills at LandShark Stadium in Miami. No More Extension Talks for D-Wade

Posted by Ace Staff on September 10th, 2009

Miami Heat franchise player Dwayne Wade has decided not to keep talking contract negotiations with the organization as they head into the upcoming season.  “Yeah, that’s no longer a conversation we’re really having right now,” said Wade. “We’ve talked about it all summer. We know where they are — they know where we are. We both want the best. But the focus is only on trying to get better than we were last year. And then we’ll get back to the table and look at everything.” With this said, Wade openly would like to see where his options are after the season along with LeBron James, Chris Bosh, and Amare Stoudemire.  Wade dominated the league in 2008, averaging 30.2 points per game and re-building his strength from his two previous injury filled seasons.  The franchise has offered him (according to NBA sources) around $60 million for a three year extension. Wade has mentioned before that he would like to finish his career with Miami where he won a championship in 2006.  He and LeBron James have also said that they would like to play together some day, leading us to think that the biggest blockbuster move in the history of the NBA could go down in 2010.  Aside from these two thoughts, rumor has it that he wouldn’t mind playing for his home town Chicago.  Either way, Wade has made it clear that his #1 interest is to fight with the Heat this year with hopes to be top contenders in the Eastern Conference for the 2010 playoffs. Miami Heat tickets are now available!

T-Pain, Buffett Create New Dolphins Fight Songs

Posted by Ace Staff on August 12th, 2009

Auto-tune friendly R&B singer T-Pain and rapper Pitbull have just created a new version of the Miami Dolphins fight song.  Dolphins owner Stephen M. Ross also hired Margarita rocker Jimmy Buffett to create his own version.  Both songs will be featured at Miami home games for the upcoming 2009/2010 season. The original was created before the 1972 season when the team went on to post a perfect record.  The song has served as a good luck charm for Miami fans and has been played for every game at Land Shark Stadium since then. Fans are unsure whether T-Pain or Buffett have gone away from the traditional music entirely, but regardless they seem to be going along with the tunes quite happily.  The Dolphins will open up their season against the Atlanta Falcons on September 13th.  They are not scheduled to match up against the New England Patriots until November 8th at Gillette Stadium. Miami Dolphins tickets are available now!

Dolphins Look to Entertain On and Off the Field

Posted by Ace Staff on July 28th, 2009

The Miami Dolphins are turning their franchise into an entertainment spectacle as well as a playoff competing team. With Jimmy Buffett, Marc Anthony, Gloria Estefans, and Jennifer Lopez all on board, the Dolphins have many halftime and postgame concert options. Buffett has been tapped to write a new team theme song. Additionally, Buffett’s beer enterprise, Land Shark Lager, has bought the naming rights to Dolphin Stadium (to be renamed Land Shark Stadium). The Dolphins didn’t add very much this offseason, being confident that they have the team to win. Coming off of a 1-15 season, the 2008 Dolphins racked up a 11-5 record and a plyoff berth. With rookie Pat White, the team can really rely on the wildcat formation. Miami Dolphins tickets are available now!

Cavaliers Rally Past Heat

Posted by Ace Staff on March 4th, 2009

Lebron James scored 42 points to help the Cleveland Cavaliers come back last night in Miami from an 11 point deficit in the fourth quarter to win 107-100.  Mo Williams scored 15 out of his 30 points in the final seven minutes to lead the Cavs rally.  Despite Dwayne scoring 41 for the Heat he was unable to get it going in the final minutes of the game.  Miami shot 2 for 17 from the floor and turned the ball over four times in the last eight minutes. Lebron James supplied the dagger with 43 seconds left, cruising past Jamario Moon for a huge right handed dunk to put Cleveland ahead 100-95.  The Cavaliers are now 35 games over .500, marking the most successful season in their franchise history. Lebron James reflecting on the game stated “It was Tough.  It’s probably one of the better wins we’ve had all year.”  This was the  second time James and Wade scored 40 plus points in the same game.   The last was on April 1, 2006 in Cleveland where James had 44 and Wade 44.  “We don’t want each other to have bragging rights,” said James.   “We definitely go at it when we play each other. Wade and the Heat will be looking for revenge soon as the Heat travel to Cleveland to square off again. Miami Heat tickets and Cleveland Cavaliers tickets are available now!

Spurs Lose Parker to Injury, Game to Heat

Posted by Ace Staff on November 8th, 2008

The San Antonio Spurs got more bad news than going to 1-4 on the year. They also had to deal with the fact that Tony Parker could be out for a significant amount of time. Parker, who was coming off a spectacular 55 point game left this game with a sprained ankle. Parker could be out 2-4 weeks, making it a possibly long month for an already struggling Spurs team. The Miami Heat improved to 3-2 on the year and got a great game out of Dwyane Wade. Wade dropped 33 points and had 10 rebounds for the Heat. The Spurs will host the Knicks on Tuesday 11/11 which can’t hurt their chances of picking up a win. They’ll play in Milwaukee the following night before returning home to host the Houston Rockets on 11/14. San Antonio Spurs tickets are available for all remaining games.
