Rangers Bottle Up Lightning; Drury Hat Trick

Posted by Ace Staff on November 7th, 2008

Where did this New York Rangers power play come from? The Rangers were sharp with the man advantage last night against Tampa netting three power play goals, two by Chris Drury, en route to a 5-2 win. Despite their very strong start the Rangers have struggled on the power play, ranking second to last in the NHL. Drury credits Rangers assistant coach with the improvements on the power play; “I have to give a lot of credit to Perry Pearn. He made some adjustments”, said Drury according to Ryan Callahan had the first power play goal of the night for the Rangers, while Chris Drury added a shorthanded goal into the mix, getting him his second career hat trick. Henrik Lundqvist had 36 saves on the night for another solid performance in net. The Rangers’ 23 points is good for the top spot in the Eastern Conference. Rangers tickets are available for all games including their next home game at Madison Square Garden on 11/10 vs the Oilers.

Jagr Leaves Rangers, NHL For Russia

Posted by Ace Staff on July 4th, 2008

Unwilling to accept one year offers from several NHL teams, including the New York Rangers, Pittsburgh Penguins and the Edmonton Oilers, Jaromir Jagr has signed a deal to play for the Russian League team Avangard Omsk. The deal is for two years with an option for a third year and will pay Jagr about $7 million tax free per year. The move wasn’t easy for Jagr.”It was the toughest decision in my life, hockeywise. … No question about it. I hate making changes,” Jagr told The Canadian Press. Rangers GM, Glen Sather wanted to bring Jagr back for another year, but grew tired of waiting for a response from Jagr’s camp. In the meantime Sather sealed Jagr’s fate with New York by signing free agent Markus Naslund away from the Vancouver Canucks. New York Rangers Tickets
