Goalie Henrik Lundqvist held the Bruins scoreless with 29 saves as Marian Gaborik scored the only goal in the second period for New York to win yesterday at Madison Square Garden. Tim Thomas came up with 22 saves, but the one he missed was all it took for the 9-5 Rangers to skate away with a victory in the books.
“Lundqvist was solid, but their team D was pretty good. Both teams’ D was good,” said Thomas. “Can you think of an odd-man rush for either team? You’d like to win them all, but we’re headed in the right direction. Even if every game we’re not getting the results.”
Both teams failed to score on power play opportunities (Bruins 0-for-5/Rangers 0-for-2). Boston put six more shots on goal but never found a gap through Lundqvist. They are now 6-6 heading into Tuesday’s game against the Detroit Red Wings. Find the best deals for Boston Bruins tickets right here at AceTicket.com!
The Rangers got great production out of their new free agent star, Marian Gaborik in last night’s 5-2 win over the Coyotes. Gaborik scored two goals and added an assist but left the game with an undisclosed injury prompting fears that the injury prone forward will miss time again this year. The Rangers jumped out early in this one, grabbing a two goal lead by the end of the first period. New York got goals from Anisimov and Gaborik in the first. The Rangers didn’t let up in the second with goals from Prospal and Gaborik once again. Both Gaborik’s goals came on power plays.
The win snapped a three game losing streak by the Rangers who improved to 8-3-1 on the year. New York will play two on the road against the Islanders and Wild before returning to Madison Square Garden on 11/1 to host the Boston Bruins. You can get New York Rangers tickets for this and all games at MSG.
The New York Rangers bounced back from their season opening loss in Pittsburgh with a big win at MSG last night, beating the Ottawa Senators 5-2. The Rangers got two goals from Brandon Dubinsky and two more from his linemates, Vaclav Prospal and Marian Gaborik. Henrik Lundqvist was sharp in goal for New York with 32 saves.
The Rangers will play their old rival the New Jersey Devils at NJ on Monday night. Rangers tickets still available for this and all Rangers games.

Mark Messier is once again a part of the New York Rangers franchise. This time “the Captain” will act as the assistant to the GM. Many assume Messier is being groomed to replace current GM Glen Sather. Glen Sather and Messier have had great history together dating back to their days in Edmonton, with Sather as Messier’s coach. New York seems like a logical choice for Messier’s foray into the front office. He enjoyed some of the best years of his career in New York and in the fans minds is probably the most popular Ranger of all time. Messier famously led the Rangers to a Stanley Cup in 1994 after a long 54 year drought.
Messier will be joining a Rangers team that many consider to be on the upswing. With the right moves look for the Rangers at the top of Eastern Conference standings season.

New York Rangers goalie Henrik Lundgvist came up with 38 saves to help the Rangers notch the win against the Washington Capitals last night at Madison Square Garden. “He’s amazing, he’s our heartbeat, and he gives everyone confidence that is playing in front of him,” said defenseman Paul Mara, who took the initial lead for New York with a goal 13:55 into the first. “He’s awesome. We love him. He’s the king.”
Chris Drury scored early in the second period to give the Rangers a two goal advantage. From there they were able to shut the Capitals offense down, aside from Alex Ovechkin who scored 2:13 into the 3rd. This marked his first goal of the series, despite leading the NHL with 56 goals this season.
The Rangers will try to close the series at 5 games with a win in Washington this Friday at 7:00 pm. New York Rangers Playoff tickets are available here at Aceticket.com.
