Cubs Hope Fukudome Will Bring Championships With Him

Kosuke Fukudome’s Chunichi Dragons just finished winning the 2007 Japan Series and Konami Cup Asia Series 2007. Now, Fukudome is joining a team that hasn’t won a championship in 100 years. The Cubs bid of $48 million along with the storied history of the franchise lured in the Japanese right fielder. Usually a prolific and consistent hitter, Fukudome’s 2007 campaign was limited by injuries. The Cubs organization is convinced that this is only temporary and that he will provide a solid bat in their revitalized ’08 lineup.
