Mayer, Petty Featured in Comcast Lineup

Posted by Ace Staff on July 29th, 2010

After hosting some of the summer’s hottest shows, the month of August is the cherry on top to a delicious lineup! John Mayer is kicking things off on August 6th with his promotional tour. His two singles off of Battles Studies, “Who Says” and “Heartbreak Warfare” reflect on Mayer’s preference for a low-key life, confirming the heart throb’s romanticism and reserve. Earlier this year Mayer also performed at a CMT Crossroads concert with Keith Urban, performing a medley of their own songs, which led to their teaming up again for the 2010 CMT Awards in June. Following the release of Battle Studies (2009), John Mayer, one of Twitter’s most followed celebs, has been on tour since May where he kicked off the tour with two performances in London. Kiss and Rihanna with guest performer Kesha will be following up John Mayer at the Comcast Center on the 7th and 8th. Maroon 5 is kicking off their tour tomorrow, previewing their upcoming album, Hands All Over. After escaping to Lake Geneva in Switzerland to record last year, front man Adam Levine told Nylon Magazine the result includes a duet with Hillary Scott of Lady Antebellum called “Out of Goodbyes”. Lavine has also been hinting for quite some time that there’s a good chance the next album could be the band’s last. The Maroon 5 2010 summer tour features artists Guster, Owl City and Ry Cuming along the way and hits the Comcast Center in Mansfield on Tuesday, August 10th midway through their tour and a month before the expected release date of Hands All Over in September. Rescheduled from June 26th, Brooks & Dunn’s “The Last Rodeo” tour is not only the final tour, but the Comcast Center is the final venue of the expansive tour- so it’s bound to be an emotional night for the band and fans alike. Brian O’Connell, president of LiveNation, said, “They will leave everything they have on the stage one final time in each city… a celebration of their career by two of the greatest Artists that Country Music has ever known.” The tour follows the recent release of Brooks & Dunn’s career-spanning double-disc collection, #1s … and Then Some, which features 30 favorites in all, with an amazing 23 #1 hit singles including “Cowgirls Don’t Cry,” which earned the duo their 15th career Grammy Award nomination. The concert is a must-see for all country-music crazed New Englanders. Following Brooks & Dunn, fellow country stars Zac Brown Band will be playing the Comcast Center August 14th and Green Day will play with AFI on August 16th. (more)

Last Chance to See John Mayer?

Posted by Ace Staff on June 30th, 2008

Many gossip sites are reporting rumors this week that John Mayer will retire soon. Mayer is apparently content with his current body of work and doesn’t see a need to make anymore music at this time. While a short retirement could be possible, many doubt that we’ve seen the last of John Mayer, especially given his age. Today’s music and concert industry is full of acts who were once considered retired but eventually returned to the scene. Recent reunion tours from the Police, and Van Halen are among the more successful of these tours. If this is indeed the end for Mayer, make sure you check out the remaining dates of his current tour. At the very least it will be the last time you can catch John Mayer for the time being. We hope he enjoys his time off, much of which will likely be spent with his new gal pal, Jennifer Aniston. Purchase John Mayer tickets now.
