Colts Defeat Ravens in Indy

Posted by Ace Staff on January 18th, 2010

The Baltimore Ravens were held scoreless through three quarters while handing the ball over four times as the Indianapolis Colts posted 17 points in the first half to win 20-3 Saturday night at Lucas Oil Stadium. The game was tied up at three apiece until Peyton Manning hit Austin Collie for a 10 yard completion and TD with two minutes remaining in the second quarter. Manning was able to make reservations for six again before heading into the locker room; this time with Reggie Wayne in the final seconds to tack on the extra insurance. “There’s no question how the guys used the off week,” said Manning. “We kind of called it preparation week. I thought we had good preparation coming into this game, thought we came out sharp and kind of set the tempo from the get-go.” The Colts will now take on the underdog New York Jets in the 2010 AFC Championship game. They last hosted title match three years ago when they went on to win the Super Bowl in Miami (the same site for this year’s main event).

Colts Move to 14-0

Posted by Ace Staff on December 18th, 2009

QB Peyton Manning threw for 208 yards and four touchdowns on his way to leading the Indianapolis Colts past the 7-7 Jacksonville Jaguars 35-31 Thursday night at Jacksonville Stadium. In the victory Manning became the first quarterback to ever pass over 4,000 yards in ten seasons. The Colts were down by three with five minutes to go when Manning connected with trusted receiver Reggie Wayne for a 65 yard pass for the go-ahead score. Despite reaching a career milestone during yesterday’s action, Peyton chose to applaud Wayne for coming through in the clutch. “What a huge play when we needed it,” said Manning. “He’s a great player. He comes to play. We haven’t gotten him the ball recently as much as we’d like, but he draws a lot of attention and you still want to get him the ball. His presence allows us to get other guys open.” Jacksonville stayed right with the Colts through all four quarters. David Garrard completed 23 passes for 223 yards and three touchdowns. “We knew they were going to put up points,” said Jaguars receiver Mike Sims-Walker. “I was saying all game, ‘It’s going to be a shootout.’ They score, we score. We always play them tough. Obviously, we didn’t do a good enough job.” Indianapolis is just two games away from posting perfection this regular season. They will matchup with the New York Jets on December 27th before facing the Buffalo Bills on January 3rd.

Colts Release Marvin Harrison

Posted by Ace Staff on February 25th, 2009

Last Monday Marvin Harrison made it clear to the Colts organization that he refuses to take a pay cut, which ultimately resulted in his release.  The only agreement they could come to was for Harrison to become a free agent.  The Colts found his requests too expensive as he is now 36 years old and coming off one of the least productive seasons in his career. Harrison is 2nd in the NFL?s all time receptions list with 1,102.  He and Colts long time Quarter Back Peyton Manning is arguably the best combo to play the game.  Together they have more completions, yardage, and touchdowns than any other combination in NFL history. Indianapolis fans will be disappointed knowing Harrison is one of the most popular and successful Colts to play in the last decade. According to speculations he may look to play back where he grew up in Philadelphia alongside former college teammate Donovan McNabb. Peyton Manning Wins NFL MVP

Posted by Ace Staff on January 2nd, 2009

For the third time in his career, Peyton Manning has been chosen by the Associated Press as the NFL’s Most Valuable Player.  Manning put the struggling Colts on his back and helped them to secure a playoff spot with a spectacular run in the second half of the season.  During their current nine-game winning streak, Manning has a passer rating of 109.7, has thrown for 17 touchdowns and only three interceptions; helping overcome their NFL second-worst running game. Indianapolis Colts 2008 Schedule & Preview

Posted by Ace Staff on April 15th, 2008

The 2006 NFL Champions were very disappointed with their early exit from last year’s playoffs after losing in the AFC Semi Finals to the San Diego Chargers. With a roster full of big names returning, the Colts will again be a contender in the AFC, trying to get back to their championship status, but will have their hands full going through both the Patriots and Chargers. Season schedule and preview listed below! Home games are in CAPS. Week 1 – 9/7 CHICAGO BEARS 8:15 PM NBC – Sunday night football to start the season at home. A rematch of the Super Bowl from two years ago, the Colts dominate in front of their home crowd to begin the year. Week 2 – 9/14 @ Minnesota Vikings 1:00 PM CBS – The Vikings continue to struggle at everything they do and the Colts are good enough to capitalize on any mistake on either end of the field, another laugher for the Colts. Week 3 – 9/21 JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS 4:15 PM CBS – Jacksonville will put much more pressure on Peyton Manning in the pocket then he has seen in weeks 1 or 2, however he’ll adjust with more slant routs to his tight ends, which will help the running game.  Jags hang for the first half but can’t keep up with the run. Week 4 – 9/28 BYE – And on the 4th week, they rested. Week 5 – 10/5 @ Houston Texans 1:00 PM CBS – If Peyton decides to throw the ball more then 30 times, this could be one of the most lopsided games of the NFL season. The Texans secondary could be the worst in the NFL, and if they Colts just look deep, they will score… whenever they want to. Week 6 – 10/12 BALTIMORE RAVENS 1:00 PM CBS – This game has the potential to be like a great chess match, each team using their own weapons to strategically go for the win. The Colts will look to capitalize using the run, while the Ravens will look for their run defense to generate turnovers. A defensive powerhouse vs. an offensive giant is always a fun game. Week 7 – 10/19 @ Green Bay Packers 4:15 PM CBS – Peyton Manning will journey to Green Bay for the first time and take on a quarter that is not Brett Farve. The Packers defend their home tundra well but on this afternoon we see yet another impressive performance by Mr. Manning and his core of receivers. Week 8 – 10/27 @ Tennessee Titans 8:30 PM ESPN – Good old Monday night football, and it’s a good match up for fans. Watching Vince Young and Peyton dueling in front of a national audience is entertaining. However, broadcasters will be more concerned about the following weeks match up between the Pats and Colts. The Colts get caught up in that hype and let a less talented Titans team come away with the win on a late drive led by Mr. Young himself. Week 9 – 11/2 NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS 8:15 PM NBC – This game should be circled on every football fans calendar. It’s the battle of the big guns in the AFC, and a potential preview of the AFC Championship game. Week 10 -11/9 @ Pittsburgh Steelers 4:15 PM CBS – Manning has faced two tough match ups in a row, and now has to go into Pittsburgh and face Big Ben and the stingy Steelers defense. The difference in this game comes down to special teams, and the Colts capitalize on great starting field position thanks to their kick off team for multiple scores. Week 11 – 11/16 HOUSTON TEXANS 1:00 PM CBS – If the first game against these two teams wasn’t bad enough, the Colts welcome the Texans into Indy for another bashing, this time in front of the home crowd. Week 12 – 11/23 @ San Diego Chargers 8:15 PM NBC – The playoff rematch that knocked the Colts out last season will be just as exciting this year. The Chargers will be relying on LT’s run game, and Joseph Addia of the Colts will see the ball a lot as well. The team that can convert in their red zone opportunities will win this game. Week 13 – 11/30 @ Cleveland Browns 1:00 PM CBS – Marvin Harrison and Peyton Manning will enjoy another weak secondary and the combo will hook up for at least 10 passes and 2 TD’s for another Colts victory. Week 14 – 12/7 CINCINNATI BENGALS 1:00 PM CBS – The Bengals were able to put up some high offensive numbers last season, their problem was that they also allowed a lot of points. The Colts have never had trouble scoring at home, and in a shootout take home another win in good old Indy. Week 15 – 12/14 DETROIT LIONS 1:00 PM FOX – At this point in the season the Lions will still be in the playoff picture but need some help and a big key victory. Too bad that victory wont come against the Colts on this afternoon, too much offensive power always prevails. Week 16 – 12/18 @ Jacksonville Jaguars 8:15 PM NFL Network – The Jags should be no match for the Colts, but with only 4 days rest from their last game, a good game plan could at least make this one close. When it comes down to it, the Colts have Peyton Manning and the Jags don’t. Advantage, Colts. Week 17 – 12/28 TENNESSEE TITANS 1:00 PM CBS – The Colts will be looking for some revenge after the teams first meeting and in another great QB match up featuring Manning and Young the Colts close out their regular season with a victory in front of the home crowd securing the number two spot in the AFC for the playoffs. The Colts will once again look to take down the mighty Patriots in order to get back to the Super Bowl and reclaim their status as NFL Champions. Get 2008-2009 Colts Tickets now.
