Nick Cave’s Grinderman at Boston HOB

Posted by Ace Staff on August 26th, 2010

Nick Cave is taking his band on the road in promotion of Grinderman 2 hitting stores September 14th. A reincarnation of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Nick Cave’s band Grinderman features Warren Ellis, Martyn P. Casey and Jim Sclavunos all of whom were members in his past band. Cave has put out a series of dark trailers by The Road director John Hillcoat to endorse the album, and released the first single “Heathen Child”. The new Grinderman album isn’t the only thing Cave has on his plate. Last week, it was reported that Cave has been drafted to write the screenplay for a remake of the cult ‘90s goth-comedy The Crow. Grinderman was formed in 2005 as a side project when Nick Cave began writing songs on guitar, an instrument he didn’t play, in search of a raw, refined sound. After releasing a debut album in 2007, the band opened for the White Stripes at Madison Square Garden. The members are still fully involved in Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, which released their fourteenth studio album two years ago. Cave explained that Grinderman 2 has a much different sound that their debut, explaining they wanted to do it in a more serious way this time, but still without caring for commercial success. Grinderman will be playing at Boston’s House of Blues on November 13th.
