Rookie QB Ryan Mallett connected with Alex Silvestro for touchdown 1:16 into the second quarter, but a pair of costly turnovers soon after resulted in the Philadelphia Eagles win Monday night’s preseason contest 27-17 over the New England Patriots at Gillette Stadium. The Pats fumbled twice at the end of the half, which ultimately gift wrapped an extra 14 points for the Eagles to find themselves back in the game. (more)

Patriots Edge Saints in Preseason Opener

Backup quarterback Brian Hoyer found Britt Davis for a short pass in the end zone 5:21 into the third quarter, which was all the New England Patriots needed to edge the New Orleans Saints 7-6 in their preseason opener Thursday night at Gillette Stadium. (more)

Patriots, Saints Begin Joint Practices Today

The New England Patriots and New Orleans Saints will hold their first joint practice today at 1:30 p.m. in anticipation of their preseason game this Thursday at Gillette Stadium. Organized by Patriots head coach Bill Belichick and Saints interim coach Joe Vitt, this marks the second time in three years the two teams have held practices together. (more)

Patriots Begin Training Camp Sessions

The New England Patriots will open up training camp today at Gillette Stadium. The team’s practice is set for 1:30 this afternoon and will be open to the public. With 89 players on the current roster, the Patriots are required to reduce their number of players to 75 by August 27th and 53 by August 31st. (more)

The New England Patriots and New Orleans Saints will hold a pair of joint practice sessions the week of their August 9th preseason matchup at Gillette Stadium. The plans have been discussed for quite some time between Patriots coach Bill Belichick and Saints interim coach Joe Vitt, as it would be the second time in three years the two teams have practiced together. Wes Welker Signs Patriots Franchise Tender

Patriots veteran wide-out Wes Welker will be joining his team at mandatory minicamp next month, as he recently signed his franchise tender worth $9.5 million in hopes to begin long-term contract negotiations. “I signed my tender today. I love the game and I love my teammates,” Welker stated through his Twitter account. “Hopefully doing the right thing gets the right results. #leapoffaith.” (more)

Patriots Preseason Opponents Announced

The NFL released 2012 preseason opponents for all 32 teams on Wednesday. The New England Patriots will begin their preseason campaign at home against the New Orleans Saints in early August. The Patriots last opened up preseason at home against New Orleans in 2010, back when the Saints were coming off their first Super Bowl victory.  (more)
