The Boston Red Sox will battle the Baltimore Orioles for three games starting Friday night. Head out to Fenway Park on September 21-23 to see Dustin Pedroia and the rest of the Red Sox take on their division-rivals. The Orioles are currently fighting with the New York Yankees for first place in the division. As the Orioles haven’t made the playoffs since 1997, this is an important game for them. Boston is out of the playoff hunt but is positioned to play a spoiler in the series. (more)
Multiple sources have confirmed that Boston rock bands the Dropkick Murphys and Mighty Mighty Bosstones have applied to the city for concert permits at Fenway Park, hoping to reserve slots from Thursday, September 8th to Saturday, September 10th. (more)
The Boston Herald just recently acknowledged that Foxwoods and Boston’s House of Blues will be teaming up, naming the Resort Casino as the “presenting sponsor” for the 2500 seat upscale music venue. Corresponding under the multiyear with Live Nation, Foxwoods logos will be displayed throughout the newly popular concert hall on Lansdowne.
The House of Blues is set to play host to a handful of large acts in February and March. New Found Glory is scheduled to perform Sunday, February 21st before Umphrey’s McGee takes the stage on the 26th. The House of Blues in Boston is set to host the Dropkick Murphys for six shows from March 13th to March 17th, 2010. The Dropkicks were the first to perform at the new state of the art concert venue last year in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day. Current members include Tim Brennan, James Lynch, Al Barr, Ken Casey, Matt Kelly, Scruffy Wallace and Jeff DaRosa.
The Quincy natives first started playing together in 1996. From their six studio albums they’ve released popular singles “Tessie,” “I’m Shipping Up to Boston,” and “The State of Massachusetts.” The band is widely heard in all Red Sox, Bruins, Celtics, and Patriots home games. “I’m Shipping Up to Boston” is also the official song of Australian Rules Football (featured on the ad in Australia promoting the sport). House of Blues Boston is gearing up for its 2009 debut. The venue which was formerly the club Avalon is being transformed into a 2500 seat music venue. Boston favorites, the Dropkick Murphys will be the first act at the new House of Blues in March 2009. The Dropkick Murphys were actually the last band to play the Avalon so it is only fitting for them to open up the new venue.
The Dropkick Murphys will play five show at the House of Blues Boston from March 13 to March 17, 2009. Dropkick Murphys tickets will be available in the 2nd week of December.
