Twenty years after recording and performing When Loves Comes To Town with U2, B.B. King, Bono and the Edge gave a repeat performance on October 27. Bono and the Edge were on hand to honor B.B. for the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz Founders Award. You can view footage of the performance here at U2.com. The video is definitely worth checking out. If you’re a U2 fan than it will certainly get you thinking about their upcoming album and subsequent tour in 2009. Coldplay is currently on its second leg of their 2008 tour in support of Viva La Vida with a show scheduled for this Wednesday 10/29 in Boston at the TD Banknorth Garden. As expected the shows are getting awesome reviews as Coldplay establishes itself as one of the premier live acts in rock music. Much like U2 and Radiohead, Coldplay has become one of those must see concerts for rock fans. Coldplay just played two shows in East Rutherford, NJ at the Izod Center. Axl Rose’s oft-delayed Chinese Democracy finally has a firm release date! After Nine years, thirteen million dollars, and countless lineup changes, the new G N’ R album will be out on November 25th, exclusively at Best Buy, and lead single “Chinese Democracy” was sent to radio stations yesterday.  Plans are already in the works for a massive tour to promote the release of the band’s sixth studio album, but details have not been released yet. Britney Spears has been in ‘comeback’ mode for quite some time now. It appears a huge part of that comeback is now in the works as Britney Spears is planning a Spring 2009 tour. No details on Britney Spears tickets or dates have been revealed yet. Spears’ much publicized personal problems have kept the star from touring in recent years. Her last tour was in 2004 and it netted over $34 million in ticket sales on the primary market. Britney Spears will be touring behind her new yet to be released album, “Circus”. The appropriately titled album will hit stores on December 2, 2008. The first single from that album, ‘Womanizer’ is already getting heavy play on pop radio. With U2′s next album tentatively scheduled for release in early 2009, plans and/or rumors are starting to build about their upcoming 2009 tour. According to the Daily Mirror, U2 will kick off their tour in the U.S. in early 2009 and have several large shows planned for their hometown crowd at Dublin’s Croke Park. It is said that U2 could be performing live for up to 80,000 fans a night with 3-5 shows in the works. Despite the large capacity of Croke Park, the demand for U2 tickets is such that 3-5 shows are expected to easily sell out.Although they are expected to start their tour in the U.S. no details about possible dates or venues have been revealed. Their new album (No Line on the Horizon) will first need a scheduled release date before any firm plans for a U2 tour are made. In the meantime U2 fans can enjoy the upcoming release of the “Live Under a Blood Red Sky” concert DVD. Update 9/21/08: New U2 Shows Scheduled? There have been some reports that U2 will play the inaugural show at the new O2 Arena in Point Village, Ireland. The arena is scheduled for completion by December 2008. The O2 Arena lends itself nicely to a U2 concert. No word on any dates or when U2 tickets might become available. Update 12/18/08:  ’No Line On the Horizon’ Release Date U2′s newest album, ‘No Line On the Horizon’ will be released on March 2, 2009.  Update 1/6/09: Album Tracks Discussed, U2 Tour in the Works? With a release date set for their new album, U2 has been discussing the new tracks with Rolling Stone magazine and Q magazine. Check out the latest issues of each mag for the low down on the new songs. If you are still waiting for news of a 2009 U2 tour, unfortunately no details/rumors have been released recently. Expect some notification soon and don’t be surprised if the O2 Arena Ireland rumor turns out to be true. Bono and the Edge already became the first to play the venue this past December. Granted there was no audience.  Update 1/9/09: U2 Tickets Not Yet Available Despite Some Reports U2.com posted a warning yesterday regarding reports that U2 tickets were already on sale for 2009 shows.  As stated on U2.com there are no confirmed 2009 U2 shows in the United States, Europe or anywhere for that matter. U2 tickets were reportedly being offered on a ticket broker website for various 2009 dates.  Aceticket.com strongly urges fans not to buy any U2 tickets until shows are formally confirmed and announced. 2009 U2 tour and ticket information should be available shortly.
