Citi Performing Arts Center September Events

Posted by Ace Staff on August 4th, 2010

This fall the Citi Performing Arts Center, formerly known as the Wang Theater, is playing host to quite an eccentric group- ranging from comedians, folk stars, classical musicians and the cast of a Nick Jr. program. Jerry Seinfeld kicks off the fall on September 11th with a mix of mainstream- with rants about relationships, marriage, having kids, American consumerism- and the original- ruthless neuroticism that we’ve come to know and love on Seinfeld. Though coming to Boston, Seinfeld’s 2010 tour is a short one- only hitting seven cities from now to December. With the end of his billion-dollar situational sitcom Seinfeld and the beginning of many film projects including his children’s film Bee Movie, Seinfeld may not be keeping up with his stand-up routines for very long. While over the years Sheryl Crow’s album sales have not lived up to her Grammy-winning, 7-time platinum debut Tuesday Night Music Club, Crow has continued to master the summer anthems, with 2002’s “Soak Up the Sun”, 2008’s “Love is Free” and now 2010’s “Summer Day”. Her latest, 100 Miles from Memphis, is Crow’s upcoming seventh studio album and her return to classic soul, the sounds that worked so well for her on her debut release. Sheryl Crow has been touring in promotion of her new album from June to September, playing the Citi Performing Arts Center in Boston on September 23rd just before wrapping up the tour in her hometown of Nashville, TN. Contemporary jazz trumpeter and composer Chris Botti of Oregon, has gone from touring opposite Frank Sinatra and Buddy Rich as a student to headlining his own performances in a matter of years. Since the release of his 2004 critically acclaimed When I Fall In Love, Chris Botti has become the largest selling American jazz instrumental artist. His success has crossed over to audiences usually reserved for pop music and his ongoing association with PBS has led to four no. one jazz albums, multiple gold, platinum, Grammy Awards and performances at the world’s most prestigious venues, including the World Series and Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony.   (more)
