Doc gave credit to the Celtic’s defense for the tight 71-69 win over the Chicago Bulls last night; it could also be chalked up to being a little bit lucky, edging out an equally sloppy offensive performance. (more)
Just two nights after having their seven game win streak ended by sloppy play and the lowly Bobcats, the Celtics will host the Chicago Bulls tonight. This will be the last game between the two teams this season barring a possible playoff series. (more)
The Chicago Bulls defeated the New York Knicks 98-86 in last night’s contest at United Center. On a night when the Bulls had PG Derrick Rose out with a sore ankle, the rest of the team stepped up. Chicago’s SG Richard Hamilton and SF Luol Deng led the team with 20 and 19 points. (more)
The Chicago Bulls and Derrick Rose recently agreed on a contract extension worth $94 million to keep the reigning MVP in Chicago for the next five years. Rose led the Bulls to a 62-20 regular season record last year, eventually falling to the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference Finals 4-1. (more)
NBA owners and players are scheduled to meet again this afternoon, six days after failing to reach a new CBA with a federal mediator on hand. The October 20th labor discussions broke down once owners insisted they agree to a 50-50 split of revenues before further negotiating the salary-cap system. (more)
Derrick Rose scored 17 points in the fourth quarter to lead his Chicago Bulls past the Houston Rockets 95-92 yesterday at the Toyota Center. Chicago’s premier PG was benched in the third because of foul trouble before checking back in to hit two three-pointers as part of the teams 18-0 run. “Whatever it takes for my team to win, I’m going to try to go out there and do it,” said Rose. “It was so frustrating. I knew I had to sit out, but I was just hoping we could keep it close. That’s when they put me back in the game, and I guess I did what I was supposed to do.”
Rose added seven rebounds and three steals to his game-high 33 points. Kyle Korver and Ronnie Brewer came off the bench for a collective 21 points. Luol Deng contributed 16 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks. Luis Scola led the Rockets with 27 points and former Bull Brad Miller scored 21. Houston has lost in their last four meetings with Chicago after winning 11 of the previous 12.
The Bulls are next scheduled for a six-game road trip starting tonight in San Antonio. They will then travel to Dallas, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Denver and Sacramento before hosting the Orlando Magic on Wednesday, December 1st. The Boston Celtics will welcome them to the TD Garden on Friday, December 3rd.
The Chicago Bulls and Brian Scalabrine just recently negotiated a non-guaranteed deal for him to reunite with first-year head coach Tom Thibodeau. Despite his lack of numbers during the Celtics 2009-2010 campaign, the nine-year veteran provides plenty of playoff experience. During his time in New Jersey and Boston he made four finals appearances, including the C’s title run in ’08.
Scalabrine was hoping to remain in Boston next season, spending a good amount of time at the Celtics practice facility in Waltham, MA this summer. “I’m just an optimistic guy,” he said. “If I don’t have a job in the league and I gotta go to Europe, I’m optimistic. It’s weird, right, in this league? If I’m not back in Boston I still have my wife, two kids, I’ll still love them, still move on. I’m raising two little girls to become special people. That’s how I look at it.”
The Bulls are currently in the discussion to bring in Carmelo Anthony from the Denver Nuggets. Denver previously offered their franchise player a three-year extension worth $65 million. It’s believed that the New York Knicks and New Jersey Nets are among the other top teams in contention to land the 3x All-Star. Chicago Bulls tickets are now available!
