BC, Northeastern to Meet in Beanpot Final

Posted by Ace Staff on February 8th, 2011

Junior defenseman Tommy Cross launched the game-winning slap shot past three Boston University defenders for the Boston College Eagles to win 3-2 in overtime in front of the 17,565 in attendance last night at the TD Garden. The victory puts the 20-6 Eagles into the Beanpot finals for the 31st time. “It feels awesome,” said Cross after the game. “Obviously, it’s a great feeling to win the game. So much went into that goal. The faceoff win, the screen. The goal was just the cherry on the top.” Northeastern University is set to contest BC next week following their dominant 4-0 win over Harvard in Monday night’s other Semifinal contest. This marks the Huskies second Beanpot final in three years. Despite their recent streak of success, Northeastern hasn’t been able to earn Boston’s #1 rank since their run in 1988. The Beanpot consolation game between Boston University and Harvard will take place at 5:00 PM next Monday, February 14. Boston College and Northeastern will face off at 8:00 PM. 2011 Boston Beanpot tickets are now available!

BC Prepared to Defend Beanpot Title

Posted by Ace Staff on February 3rd, 2011

With the 59th annual Boston Beanpot tournament approaching, the BC Eagles were able to remind the BU Terriers who the current champions were in last week’s 3-2 victory in front of the 6,150 in attendance at the Agganis Arena. The Eagles have won all three contests against Hockey East opponents so far this season. “We really had an excellent start, our first period was one of our best all year,” said BC coach Jerry York. “I thought the goaltenders were strong and we each controlled a period. They controlled the second, and the third was just back and forth.” BC and BU will face off in the Beanpot Semifinals Monday, February 7th at the TD Garden. The Northeastern Huskies and Harvard Crimson will also matchup that day with February 14th reserved for the second round. The Huskies currently hold the advantage in light of their mid-January 3-0 win over Harvard. Find the best Boston Beanpot ticket deals with us at!

Terriers Start Strong In Hockey East

Posted by Ace Staff on November 5th, 2010

After a competitive 2-1 win over the UMass Lowell Riverhawks last Saturday, the Boston University Terriers are now 6-0-1 overall and 4-0-1 in league play. Junior forward Chris Connolly has provided the go-ahead score in their last two contests, racking up a total of eight points in seven games. They are currently the only team in the Hockey East without a loss as UMass and Vermont struggle to earn their first victories of the season. Many are surprised at the Terriers early success in light of the amount of freshman taking on important roles between Sahir Gill, Charlie Coyle and Adam Glendening. “Losing the seniors and the early departures, we were going to need a lot of contributions from the new guys,” said Connolly. “It’s tough when you come in as a freshman and get thrown right into the fire, but the guys who have been in the lineup have done more than a great job. It’s a testament to them that they’re comfortable enough to step in and play so confidently. That’s only going to help us down the road.” The Terriers are next scheduled to take on the University of Maine Black Bears on Saturday, November 6th at the Agganis Arena. BC Wins 15th Beanpot Title

Posted by Ace Staff on February 9th, 2010

The BC Eagles relied heavily on goalie and tournament MVP John Muse for 31 saves as the offense took control with 4 goals to Boston University‘s 3 to claim their 15th Beanpot championship yesterday at the TD Garden. So far this season Muse is 11-6-2 with a .912 save percentage. “If there’s one thing about John, he’s a competitor. He wants to win. He wants to get those games, he wants to play those minutes,” said BC captain Matt Price. “He did a great job, especially coming off that surgery. He worked really hard.” Barry Almeida solidified the victory with a game-winning score early in the third period. Steve Whitney, Carl Sneep and Chris Kreider notched the other three goals for the Eagles. The Northeastern Huskies were able to finish strong in the consolation match, easily controlling Harvard 4-1. Wade MacLeod produced two goals in the third period to give his team their 13th win of the season. Rawlings made 27 saves that included 14 in the second period. “The one common thread that is visible when he’s on his game is how aggressive he is and how square to the puck he is,” said Northeastern coach Greg Cronin. “There were very few second shots because he was really controlling the rebounds so well.”

BC, BU to Play Beanpot Finale

Posted by Ace Staff on February 2nd, 2010

The Boston University Terriers are scheduled to matchup against the Boston College Eagles in the 2010 Beanpot finale following Monday night’s first round in Bruins territory. BC went on to blank Harvard as Carl Sneep controlled the offense with a goal and two assists to win 6-0. Next featured a tight contest with Northeastern giving the defending champs a run in the final minute with a two-man advantage. Despite the mismatch, the Terriers were able to notch the 2-1 victory to defend their title. BU has advanced to the finals in 25 of the last 27 Beanpot tournaments. Harvard and Northeastern haven’t been able to call themselves Boston’s best hockey program since the early 1990′s. The Terriers and Eagles last faced each other at Fenway Park as part of the Winter Classic events, where BU captured the 3-2 W. The final round is set for Monday, February 8th at the TD Garden. 2010 Boston Beanpot tickets are now available!

Terriers Outplay Crimson in OT

Posted by Ace Staff on November 25th, 2009

Conor Morrison netted four goals for the Harvard Crimson in last night’s contest against the Boston University Terriers. Despite his efforts BU rallied back and supplied the final dagger with LW Chris Connolly’s goal 2:18 left in overtime for the Terriers to take this one 6-5 at Bright Hockey Center. The game featured plenty of momentum shifts and lead changes throughout. Boston University improved to a 4-7-1 record while Harvard remains in desperation with just one regular season win. “Obviously we’re disappointed,” said Harvard coach Ted Donato. “Give a lot of credit to BU. They kept coming…We had a lot of answers and we were able to maintain the lead for most of the night, but they kept coming. As a group, we have to do a better job of being able to hold onto leads and close games out.” BU and Harvard will likely match up again at the 58th annual Boston Beanpot hockey tournament on February 1st and 8th at the TD Garden. The Terriers defeated Harvard 4-3 in last year’s title match to claim their 29th Beanpot championship. Tickets for the 2010 Beanpot Tournament are available right here with us at!

Hockey East Event Named Frozen Fenway

Posted by Ace Staff on September 17th, 2009

On January 8th (one week after the NHL Winter Classic at Fenway), Hockey East teams will be showcasing their skills outdoors for two games at 4:00 pm and 7:30 pm.  Organizers have recently decided to keep the frozen trend alive in college hockey, changing the name from Hockey East at Fenway to Frozen Fenway.  Sun Life Financial has just been announced as the official sponsor. The first game of the double header will feature the best of women’s college hockey with Northeastern University squaring off against UNH.  This will surely set the stage for the premier game between the Boston University Terriers and Boston College Eagles men’s programs. The men’s game will mark the 248th contest between the two teams.  The Eagles are defending Beanpot champions from 2008, and the Terriers from 2009.  There is always a lot on the line when the two programs play each other.  Pride is the most important factor heading into the event for these cross-town rivals. Frozen Fenway tickets are now available right here at!
