Rumored to have been placed on waivers by the Boston Red Sox last week, Jacoby Ellsbury is viewed by general manager Ben Cherington as the type of player “we want here.” Despite trade rumors surrounding the 28-year old center fielder in the midst of Boston’s blockbuster deal with the LA Dodgers, there was no confirmation as to whether the Red Sox were trying to clean up even more than expected.
