Canadiens Win Over B’s In Shootout

The Boston Bruins avoided their third consecutive scoreless game with a Patrice Bergeron goal with just seconds remaining to test the Montreal Canadiens in overtime last night at the TD Garden. The shootout featured just one goal produced by Mike Cammalleri for the Habs to take this one 2-1. The Bruins have come up with just 11 goals collectively in their nine losses.

Players were definitely relieved to at least get on the board after a pair of dismal performances against the New York Rangers and Detroit Red Wings. “At least it’s out of our heads now,” said Bergeron. “It’s one step forward to get that goal and get that point. But one point is not good enough.” Bergeron first found a way past goalie Carey Price with 2:25 left in the second period. The score was then taken away minutes later after review.

“In my head there was a moment where you go, ‘That figures,’” said Tim Thomas. “But then the other voice in my head rebounded right away and said, ‘No. We’re not going to say Here we go again. We’ve got to do something.’ I was trying to send some positive mental energy to the team to do something.”

Boston will now look forward to their next matchup against the Buffalo Sabres this Saturday at 7:00 PM. Boston Bruins tickets are now available!

Red Wings Light Up Bruins Early

Henrik Zetterberg and Tomas Holmstrom scored the only two goals in the first period for the Detroit Red Wings to handle the Boston Bruins Tuesday at Joe Louis Arena. Goalie Chris Osgood denied 29 Boston shot attempts, marking his 50th shutout and 394th career victory.

“I don’t put much merit in shutouts,” said Osgood. “The only thing they’re good for is that you know you have a great chance of winning the game. I grew up watching Grant Fuhr play and he was just about winning games, so that’s kind of my mentality.”

The Bruins after struggling in their last two games can only look ahead to matching up against the Canadiens this Thursday in Boston. Coach Claude Julien is done with the excuses, saying “we’re going to have to decide that we’re tired of hearing we had a good effort without winning.” After battling Montreal, the TD Garden will then play host to the Buffalo Sabres. Lundqvist, Rangers Shut Out Bruins

Goalie Henrik Lundqvist held the Bruins scoreless with 29 saves as Marian Gaborik scored the only goal in the second period for New York to win yesterday at Madison Square Garden. Tim Thomas came up with 22 saves, but the one he missed was all it took for the 9-5 Rangers to skate away with a victory in the books.

“Lundqvist was solid, but their team D was pretty good. Both teams’ D was good,” said Thomas. “Can you think of an odd-man rush for either team? You’d like to win them all, but we’re headed in the right direction. Even if every game we’re not getting the results.”

Both teams failed to score on power play opportunities (Bruins 0-for-5/Rangers 0-for-2). Boston put six more shots on goal but never found a gap through Lundqvist. They are now 6-6 heading into Tuesday’s game against the Detroit Red Wings. Find the best deals for Boston Bruins tickets right here at AceTicket.com!

Devils Edge Bruins In Final Minutes

The New Jersey Devils were able to slip two goals by goalie Tim Thomas, the go-ahead score with just over a minute to play for them to battle over the Boston Bruins 2-1 last night at the TD Garden. Despite collecting 25 saves, the only moments in Thomas’s mind were the two that got by. “I was pretty sure I didn’t have the first one,” said Thomas. “The second one I thought maybe I did for a second and by the time I could check, there was nothing I could do.”

Patrice Bergeron scored the only goal for Boston on a rebound from Marco Sturm’s hard backhand attempt. The B’s had their share of chances in the final stretch of the game with a few shots on goal (one of which was denied by the post). “We are never happy with losing games,” said defenseman Derek Morris. “It was one bounce that went the wrong way, but I thought we had a hard effort tonight.” The Bruins are now 5-5-1 heading into Saturday’s game in Boston against the Edmonton Oilers. The following day they will travel to New York to meet up with the Rangers before the Redwings host them in Detroit on Tuesday.

The Boston Globe recently reported for a variety of events to take place at Fenway Park around the time of the Winter Classic game between the Boston Bruins and Philadelphia Flyers. The rink is expected to be ready by December 18th following the arrival of the ice-making ingredients on the 10th. The Bruins and Red Sox will be involved in events around the Classic, including a date or two reserved for public skating.

Hockey East will be showcasing their talents at Fenway Park on January 8th when Boston University and Boston College match up.  UNH and Northeastern women’s hockey will be competing on the ice as well that day.

The Bruins and Flyers have been looking forward to New Years Day for the past several months.  “I have been out west for the last six or seven years of my career, so to come to Boston was a big event,” said Flyers goalie Brian Boucher. “Some years you don’t come, and when you do it’s a big event for your family. Now I’m going to be coming to play at Fenway Park? I mean, it’s pretty wild. You come here to watch sporting events, not to take part in them.”

All official schedules for events will be announced by early next week. Winter Classic and Hockey East at Fenway tickets are available now!

The injury-filled Boston Bruins roster thanks to Steve Begin’s go-ahead goal 8:33 into the third period were able to defeat the Nashville Predators 3-2 last night at the TD Garden. “It’s awesome,” said Begin. “Most important thing is we won the game but it’s great to get my first goal out of the way. Now, I’m going to have to think about something else. Not that I was thinking about it every day but it’s a big relief.”

The now 4-4-0 Bruins are missing Milan Lucic, Marc Savard, and Sawn Thornton due to injury. The organization has since called upon Daniel Paille (just acquired from Buffalo Sabres), rookie Brad Marchand and Trend Whitfield to suit up in black and gold for the first time. Boston will now try to stay on the winning side of things as they host the Flyers tonight in Philadelphia.

Bruins Trade for Paille

The Boston Bruins have recently received Daniel Paille from the Buffalo Sabres for two future draft picks. Paille will be expected to replace forward Milan Lucic for the time being, who is to undergo surgery on Sunday for his broken finger. The LW seven year veteran was selected in the first round of the 2002 NHL draft.

Paille this season has found difficulties in cracking the line up in Buffalo, but will certainly get his chance to immediately contribute with the Bruins.  Through his career he has earned a total of 35 goals and 77 points in his 195 NHL games played.

The B’s are set to host the Nashville Predators tonight at 7:00 PM in Boston. Bruins tickets are available all season long with us at AceTicket.com!

Bruins Run Out of Time, Fall to Avalanche

RW David Jones scored a short-handed goal with three minutes left in the second period for the Colorado Avalanche to secure the victory over the Boston Bruins last night at the TD Garden.  Michael Ryder 6:24 into the third period to cut the lead to one, but from there the B’s were held scoreless.

Bruins head coach Claude Julien the past few days has been very frustrated with his team.  “I can’t get in their heads,” he said during his postgame press conference. “There’s a time where you’re working hard and getting chances, looking like the old team, and then you shoot yourselves in the foot.” The 2008 Eastern Conference leading Bruins have now lost three out of their first five games this season.

Boston will now travel to Dallas for their next game against the Stars on Friday before heading to Phoenix to match up with the Coyotes the following day.  Their next home game will be against the Nashville Predators October 21st. Ducks Demolish Bruins

Marco Sturm scored the initial goal  for the Boston Bruins against the Anaheim Ducks heading into the 2nd period. Unfortunately, the final six goals to be scored in the game belonged to the visitors.  Teemu Selanne led the Ducks with two goals in the 2nd and the flock followed from there, netting four more insurance goals to blow out Boston 6-1 last night at the TD Garden.

Bruins coach Claude Julien is clearly not happy with the way his team has started the year. “Too many skilled guys not going, and I’ll have to deal with the dirty laundry in the dressing room,” said Julien. “When you need to keep talking about your fourth line being your best line, it doesn’t bode well for your hockey team.”

Hopefully the B’s will be able to work out the kinks early in the first portion of the season.  Their next game is scheduled against the New York Islanders at 7:00 PM in Boston.  They will then play host to the Colorado Avalanche October 12th at 1:00 PM.

Bruins Fall to Capitals In Season Opener

Although there would be no scoring left through most of the third period in last night’s Washington Capitals 4-1 win over the Boston Bruins, there was still plenty of action left to be seen. Sparked by a scuffle in the corner against the boards, Shawn Thornton and John Erskine threw some heavy blows before heading to the box. The high volume fight certainly won the crowd over, but Capitals LW Alex Ovechkin took the majority of the recognition for Washington’s victory.

The two-time defending NHL MVP notched two goals, one assist and a Boston Bruins team left in awe of his talents.  “If you give him too much time to shoot, he will make you look bad,” Bruins defenseman Dennis Wideman said. “He is the hardest-working and hardest-hitting superstar in the league. He is the Rafael Nadal of hockey, and (Sidney) Crosby is (Roger) Federer.”

Bruins goalie Tim Thomas allowed four plus goals in just nine of his last 54 games over the course of the 2008-2009 season.  Patrice Bergeron avoided the shutout with a goal assisted by Steve Begin and Mark Stuart with 12:04 left in the third. The B’s will next host the Carolina Hurricanes at the TD Garden this Saturday at 7:00 pm.
