Last October before an audience of 5,000 lucky contest winners, fan club members, and on-site construction workers at work building the New Meadowlands Stadium, Bon Jovi put on a show to announce their 2010-11 tour plans in promotion of their latest album, The Circle. While this show took place in the parking lot of the unfinished stadium, Bon Jovi assured that they would be back to greet the stadium come summer time. The tour in its entirety is planned to exceed two years and span the globe, including the kickoff event of New Meadowlands Stadium, scheduled for May 26th and 27th, 2010.
The band’s North American tour launched on February 19th in Seattle, WA, the first of 135 shows in 30 countries. Following in the footsteps of their hugely successful Lost Highway Tour, Bon Jovi will draw fans around the world into The Circle, with a current residency at London’s O2 Arena in June 2010 preceding the happy homecoming to East Rutherford kicking off the nationwide tour leg for the end of the summer. Following up their 2008’s Lost Highway Tour, the highest grossing tour of year, Bon Jovi is looking to raise the bar.
For many Jersey natives, catching a Jovi show at the Meadowlands has become a summertime tradition, and part of their shared heritage. In total, Bon Jovi will be playing at Meadowlands four times this summer. The venue is quite sentimental since the band first played at the Giants’ stadium in 1989, winning themselves the right to welcome audiences to the new stadium before even the home team Giants get to do so.
Having sold more than 120 million albums and performed more than 2,600 concerts in over 50 countries for more than 34 million fans, Bon Jovi is at their best when they’re on the move. The November 2009 release of Bon Jovi’s new album, The Circle, and the band’s subsequent world tour, provides a powerful reassertion of Bon Jovi’s commitment to the hard-hitting rock & roll that has been the band’s indelible signature since it began more than 26 years ago. Needless to say, Bon Jovi is one of the most prolific and exciting live rock bands in the world. The last summer date at the New Meadowlands Stadium in East Rutherford is July 9th, to be opened by Kid Rock. Although the last appearance at the stadium for the summer, its suggested that it may not be their last ever, with a hint at possibly playing the 2014 Super bowl Halftime show.
R&B singer Beyonce experienced a record setting night at the 52nd annual Grammys in Los Angeles, claiming a total of six awards. The longtime performer is currently touring in Brazil and Argentina before taking an expected hiatus for the remainder of 2010. Taylor Swift left the building with four Grammys, most notably for “Album of the Year” and “Best Country Album.” America’s newest country sensation performed her smash hit “You Belong With Me” with Stevie Nicks, calling it a “fairy tale come true.” Gillette Stadium is ready to play host to Swift on Saturday, June 5th.
Bon Jovi showcased songs from their latest project along with the timeless single “Livin’ on a Prayer” in their first ever Grammy performance. The band will also be featured at the home of the New England Patriots on Saturday, July 24th as part of their 2010 summer tour.
Lady Gaga won “Best Dance Recording” and “Best Electronic/Dance Album” with her chart topping debut album “The Fame.” Kings of Leon and Black Eyed Peas were most recognized in regards to group performance and recording. Fergie, will.i.am and crew are scheduled to headline the TD Garden in Boston, MA on Friday, February 26th. Notable male Awards included Jay-Z for “Best Rap Solo Performance” and Jason Mraz for “Best Male Vocal Performance.”
Bon Jovi’s newest album “The Circle” is now available both online and in stores. In 2008 when Jon Bon Jovi and guitarist Richie Sambora met to discuss plans about a greatest hits album, the project progressively turned into a ton of new material. “We went to the record company and said, ‘Well, we’ve got good news and bad news,’” said Sambora. “‘The bad news is you’re not getting a greatest hits. The good news is you’re going to have a great studio album.’”To further promote ”The Circle” members Jovi, Sambora, David Bryan, Tico Torres and Hugh McDonald will be touring all over the world starting in February. They are scheduled to play at numerous U.S. venues for the majority of 2010 (including a July 24th gig at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, MA) before taking off for a heavy set of shows overseas. Longtime rock band Bon Jovi has announced dates for their 2010-2011 “Circle the World Tour.” Before heading overseas the group will be hitting numerous major U.S. venues from February to July.
The New Meadowlands Stadium will welcome them to East Rutherford, NJ for two shows on May 26th and 27th. Soon after they’ll be expected to rock out at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, MA on July 24th. Before kicking off their 2010 tour, sources have rumored Bon Jovi to headline the Super Bowl XLIV half time show in Miami, FL on February 7th.
The group planning to take part in the upcoming tour with Jon Bon Jovi are band members Richie Sambora, David Bryan, Tico Torres and Hugh McDonald. Since 1983 Bon Jovi has released a total of ten studio albums and sold more than 120 million albums internationally.
Q magazine ranked them #14 on their list of ’50 Greatest Bands of All Time.’ Jovi and Sambora were inducted into the ‘Songwriters Hall of Fame’ in 2009. Their most recognizable singles include “You Give Love a Bad Name,” “Livin’ on a Prayer,” “Bad Medicine,” “I’ll Be There for You” and “Always.”
