One of America’s favorite rock bands, Aerosmith, just announced US and world tour dates for this summer’s “Cocked, Locked, Ready to Rock Tour”, beginning July 23rd in Oakland, California. Frontman Steven Tyler has been in the headlines quite consistently in the past year after an on-stage tumble, speculations of quitting the band and a possible stint at rehab.
Aerosmith just wrapped up the South American leg of their tour, ending with a show in Costa Rica, the largest concert put on in the country’s history. But as much of a blast as the band is having at the equator, they’re most looking forward to their summer homecoming. The band will walk this way August 14th at Fenway Park, a show that sold out in a mere 23 minutes after going on sale. They’ll be joined at this hometown show by The J. Geils Band, Sammy Hagar and the Wabos accompanying them for 11 of the 16 dates (opening band announcements coming soon).
Steven Tyler gave a shout-out to Boston while talking about the tour, saying, “I thought it was time to get my mojo back, by rockin’ South America and Europe with a little home run at Boston’s Fenway Park thrown in and then off to the rest of America to do what we do best!” They will make their way back to New England to wrap up the American tour on September 4th at Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, CT. Aerosmith concert tickets are now available!
Rumors are circulating in regards to who will carry on the Fenway Park summer concert series in 2010. America’s most beloved ballpark is reportedly reaching out to welcome Boston legends Aerosmith and J Geils Band for two nights on Friday, August 13th and Saturday, August 14th. Aerosmith looked as though they were about to end their longtime run just months ago, but Tyler, Perry and Co. have solved their issues and will be set to headline a number of venues overseas in the near future.
Fenway originally scheduled to bring in Elton John and Billy Joel, but Joel has since decided to take a vacation for the remainder of the year. The historic ballpark previously played host to musical acts that include Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen, The Rolling Stones, the Police, Jimmy Buffett, Dave Matthews Band and Neil Diamond. Boston rock legends Aerosmith have ended a public feud with singer Stephen Tyler, and announced a number of appearances at festivals in Europe this Summer. Tyler, whose injury at a concert last Summer forced the band to cancel their last tour, had previously stated his intentions to “go solo”. Guitarist Steve Perry announced that the band was in the process of finding a new singer, which led to wild speculation ranging from Youtube-found singer “Hagen” to Kid Rock.
This week, the band seems to have put aside their differences.”The one common denominator that we still all have is that we all love to get up on stage and rock out, play music and bring joy to people” drummer Joey Kramer said in an interview this week. ”And we let the other drama, as of late, kind of filter itself out by the wayside and concentrate on more of what’s important, which is the playing and the business at hand.”
Aerosmith will kick off their tour at the Sweden Rock Festival in Solvesborg on June 10th. Check back to see when Aerosmith Tickets are available in your area!
Frontman Steven Tyler has recently announced his departure from rock band Aerosmith and hopes to pursue a solo career in the near future. After performing with the group for over 40 years, Tyler believes it’s in his best interest to take on the music scene as a one man show, saying he’s “working on the brand of myself, Brand Tyler.”
Since the shocking news became public earlier this week, the rest of the band has actively been in search for a possible replacement. Guitarist Joe Perry said on his Twitter account Monday that “Aerosmith is definitely NOT breaking up…one of the members is doing his own thing and said so in the press.”
There have already been rumors in regards to what artists qualify to step in Tyler’s shoes. So far it’s circulated for Gary Cherone (Extreme), Adam Lambert (American Idol runner-up), and Kid Rock as potential candidates. Perry has also found a singer named “Hagen” on You Tube for his latest solo product, which could also be the route the band chooses to find an appropriate fit.
Aerosmith lead singer Steven Tyler was taken to the hospital last night after falling off the back of the stage in the middle of a concert in Sturgis, South Dakota. Reports say that Tyler was attempting to entertain the crowd after technical difficulties with the sound system. When the 61 year old rocker got up the crowd cheered supportively knowing he was okay. He was then taken back stage and guitarist Joe Perry later informed the audience that he had to be taken to the hospital. Mike Sanborn, spokesman for the concert venue spoke about Tyler’s good nature regarding the situation, saying “he was in good spirits when he got in the helicopter. He was talking and joking with the physician.” Don’t count on Tyler being out for too long. The band is scheduled to hit major cities in the next couple of months across the country.
