BOSTON, MA – The Boston Red Sox today set their Opening Day 25-man roster for the 2014 season.
Executive Vice President/General Manager Ben Cherington made the announcement.
The 2014 Opening Day roster includes 12 pitchers, two catchers, six infielders, and five outfielders.
The Red Sox open their 114th season tomorrow afternoon in Baltimore at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. Left-handed pitcher Jon Lester will start for Boston and be opposed by Orioles right-hander Chris Tillman, with first pitch set for 3:05 p.m.
The Red Sox’ 2014 Opening Day Roster:
PITCHERS (12): Burke Badenhop, Clay Buchholz, Chris Capuano, Felix Doubront, John Lackey, Jon Lester, Andrew Miller, Edward Mujica, Jake Peavy, Junichi Tazawa, Koji Uehara, and Brandon Workman.
CATCHERS (2): A.J. Pierzynski and David Ross.
INFIELDERS (6): Xander Bogaerts, Jonathan Herrera, Will Middlebrooks, Mike Napoli, David Ortiz, and Dustin Pedroia.
