Homepage, Sports - The Boston Red Sox have set yet another American League Championship series record. David Ortiz and JD Drew powered the Sox back from a seven run deficit, the largest overcome in ALCS history (and second biggest in playoff history). The Rays jumped ahead early, putting up five runs on the board against Sox starter Daisuke Matsuzaka. At the end of a a disastrous seventh inning, the Sox found themselves down seven runs.
After a Jed Lowrie double and a Coco Crisp single, David Ortiz put the Sox on the board with a towering homer to left off of Rays reliever Grant Balfour. Jonathan Papelbon held the Rays scoreless in the top of the eighth inning, and a JD Drew 2-run jack put the Sox within one. Coco Crisp hit a long single that scored Mark Kotsay, tying up the game.
Justin Masterson pitched a clean inning, giving the Sox a chance to work some of their walk-off magic. With two down in the bottom of the ninth, a throwing error by Tampa third baseman Evan Longoria allowed Kevin Youkilis to get on base. Joe Maddon called for the intentional walk of Jason Bay, bringing up JD Drew. Drew hit a long fly to right that outfielder Gabe Gross could not quite get a handle on, giving Youkilis a chance to score the winning run.
The dramatic win give the Sox momentum as they head to face the Rays in Tampa. Josh Beckett will match up against James shields on Saturday night as they try to force a game seven.
Tickets are still available for all Red Sox Playoff games!
Homepage, Sports - In 2004, the Sox overcame a 0-3 deficit to beat the New York Yankees. In 2007, The Sox came from down 1-3 to beat the Cleveland Indians. This year, the Sox are behind again, but the adversity seems to have energized the team. “I think they wish we were playing in about 10 minutes,” Red Sox manager Terry Francona told reporters in an off-day press conference. “It’s good. It’s very good. It’s enthusiastic. I mean, we’ll play tomorrow, because that’s when we’re supposed to, but I think everybody is ready to play right now, which is what I was hoping for.”
Sox Nation is gearing up to cheer for a team on the brink yet again. The same team that fought off elimination in the 1999 ALDS, 2003 ALDS, 2004 ALCS, and last year’s ALCS. Team captain Jason Varitek was there for each of those series’, and will lead the Sox with the same determination this year.
The Sox will be sending Daisuke Matsuzaka to the mound tonight. Matsuzaka held the Rays hitless into the seventh inning in his first appearance of the series. The Rays moved up Scott Kazmir to face him, giving James Shields a day off and what they consider to be a better matchup at home in a possible game six. Potential game six and seven starters Jon Lester and Josh Beckett faltered in their previous appearances, but both have a playoff pedigree that speaks for itself.
Tickets are available for tonight’s game starting at face value!
Sports, Ticket Sales - Last night’s 5-1 win by the Phillies over the Dodgers gave Philadelphia a 4-1 series win over L.A. in the NLCS, putting them in the World Series for the 1st time since 1993. The Phillies who own the distinction as the losingest franchise in pro sports history with over 10,000 losses can finally have something to cheer about. The Championship starved city now awaits the winner of the ALCS between the Boston Red Sox and the Tampa Bay Rays.

Concerts, Ticket Sales - Britney Spears has been in ‘comeback’ mode for quite some time now. It appears a huge part of that comeback is now in the works as Britney Spears is planning a Spring 2009 tour. No details on Britney Spears tickets or dates have been revealed yet. Spears’ much publicized personal problems have kept the star from touring in recent years. Her last tour was in 2004 and it netted over $34 million in ticket sales on the primary market.
Britney Spears will be touring behind her new yet to be released album, “Circus”. The appropriately titled album will hit stores on December 2, 2008. The first single from that album, ‘Womanizer’ is already getting heavy play on pop radio. Once a Britney Spears tour is announced, check back with Ace for all your Britney Spears ticket needs.
Sports, Ticket Sales - Almost five months removed from celebrating their 17th NBA title, the Boston Celtics are just 2 weeks away from openening their season to defend that title. The Champion Celtics will open the season at home against Lebron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers on 10/28/08 at the TD Banknorth Garden. The Celtics are still favored by many to win the Eastern Conference and return to the NBA Finals to fight for their 18th Championship.
The Celtics 2008-2009 roster will be very similar to last year’s squad with the exception of James Posey who signed with the Hornets in the off season. Expect bigger roles for bench players like Leon Powe and Glen (Big Baby) Davis, two key players in last year’s successful run. In a preview of their opening night matchup the Celtics and Cavs faced off in a pre-season game on Tuesday 10/14, with Boston edging out the Cavs behind 17 2nd half points from Leon Powe.
If you just can’t wait to get a look at the 2008-2009 Boston Celtics make sure you take advantage of the great deals on the two pre-season home games at the TD Banknorth Garden. The Celtics will host the Knicks on Friday 10/17 and the Nets on Sunday 10/19. Celtics tickets for these pre-season games start well below face value. This a great chance to check out some of the best seats in the house at extremely low prices.

Sports, Ticket Sales - After last night’s loss to the Rays the Red Sox will be looking to pull even in tonight’s game 4 at Fenway. Veteran knuckle baller Tim Wakefield gets the ball tonight for the Sox. He’s pitched in his fair share of big games for the Red Sox and should give the team a great chance to knot this series up at two apiece.
If you haven’t seen a Red Sox playoff game yet, or if you just need to get back to Fenway to cheer them on, now is the perfect time to grab some tickets. ALCS ticket prices for the Red Sox have never been this low. You can get great deals for games 4 and 5 right now, especially on the most coveted Field Box seats at Fenway. Check them out now.

Homepage, Sports - The first two games of the American League Championship series were a rollercoaster ride. In game one, Daisuke Matsuzaka took a no-hitter into the seventh inning and stunned the Rays, protecting his perfect road record this season. In game two, both starters only went 4.1 innings, and gave up a combined 13 runs. The Sox battled back to a tie, but ultimately lost in the 11th on a BJ Upton sac fly off of Mike Timlin.
Much like Sox/Yankees postseason games, the Sox/Rays games so far seem to set a lengthy trend. Friday night’s matchup lasted three hours and twenty-five minutes, and Saturday’s 11-inning marathon stretched to five hours and twenty-seven minutes.
The Sox went 7-2 against the Rays at home during the regular season, though they dropped the season series. The Sox are 12-6 at home in the playoffs under manager Terry Francona, while the Rays are starting just their second postseason series.
Today the series returns to Boston for games 3, 4, and 5. This afternoon’s matinee sees Jon Lester matched up against Matt Garza.

10/12/08Atlanta Falcons (4-2) 22 Chicago Bears (3-3) 20 – Matt Ryan had a great passing day with 301 yards and 1 touchdown in leading the Hawks past the Bears.
Minnesota Vikings (3-3) 12 Detroit Lions (0-5) 10 – The Lions can’t seem to get anything going as they remain winless after today’s loss to the Vikings.
New Orleans Saints (3-3) 34 Oakland Raiders (1-4) 3 – The Saints were too much for the Raiders defense. The offense wasn’t much better.
Tampa Bay Bucs (4-2) 27 Carolina Panthers (4-2) 3 – Despite 242 passing yards, Delhomme couldn’t get the ball in the endzone, allowing Garcia and the Bucs to steal this one.
Indianapolis Colts (3-2) 31 Baltimore Ravens (2-3) 3 - Manning righted the ship today with 3 touchdown passes as the Colts easily handled the Ravens.
Dallas Cowboys (4-2) 30 Arizona Cardinals (4-2) 24 – Romo had 3 touchdown passes but his effort wasn’t enough to overcome the Cardinals in OT.
Jacksonville Jaguars (3-3) 24 Denver Broncos (4-2) 17 – Garrard threw for 276 yards in a victory over the Broncos today.
New York Jets (3-2) 26 Cincinnati Bengals (0-6) 14 – Brett Favre’s decent effort was enough to beat the hapless Bengals who now stand winless at 0-6.
St. Louis Rams (1-4) 19 Washington Redskins (4-2) 17 – Losing to the Rams was not what the Redskins needed to do to assert their presence in the NFC East.
Houston Texans (1-4) 29 Miami Dolphins (2-3) 28 – Schaub had a great day with 379 passing yards leading the Texans over the Dolphins.
Philadelphia Eagles (3-3) 40 San Francisco 49ers (2-4) 26 – McNabb was determined to bounce back from an “embarrassing” performance and threw 2 TD’s in this win over the 49ers.

San Diego Chargers (3-3) 30 New England Patriots (3-2) 10 – Apparently Tom Brady is that good. Without him the Patriots continue to struggle in the red zone.
Monday Night Football 10/13/08
New York Giants (4-1) 14 Cleveland Browns (2-3) 35 – The Giants were not the dominant team they were in their first 4 games of the year. The defending Super Bowl champs looked lost on offense and defense and couldn’t handle a resurgent Browns team.
