Sports - The San Antonio Spurs got more bad news than going to 1-4 on the year. They also had to deal with the fact that Tony Parker could be out for a significant amount of time. Parker, who was coming off a spectacular 55 point game left this game with a sprained ankle. Parker could be out 2-4 weeks, making it a possibly long month for an already struggling Spurs team.
The Miami Heat improved to 3-2 on the year and got a great game out of Dwyane Wade. Wade dropped 33 points and had 10 rebounds for the Heat.
The Spurs will host the Knicks on Tuesday 11/11 which can’t hurt their chances of picking up a win. They’ll play in Milwaukee the following night before returning home to host the Houston Rockets on 11/14. San Antonio Spurs tickets are available for all remaining games.

Sports - The Boston Bruins are heating up. Boston won its fifth game out of six last night with a 5-2 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs. Blake Wheeler provided most of the spark netting a hat trick with his last minute empty net goal. The Bruins wasted no time building a lead in this game and led 2-0 after 1 period on two power play goals. Wheeler’s second goal of the game made it 3-0 after 2 periods of play.
The Maple Leafs tried to make a game out of it in the 3rd period adding two goals of their own but it wouldn’t be enough. Goalie Tim Thomas made 34 saves for the Bruins.
Bruins tickets are still available for the Bruins upcoming games vs the Sabres on 11/8 and the Canadiens on 11/13.
Sports - Where did this New York Rangers power play come from? The Rangers were sharp with the man advantage last night against Tampa netting three power play goals, two by Chris Drury, en route to a 5-2 win. Despite their very strong start the Rangers have struggled on the power play, ranking second to last in the NHL. Drury credits Rangers assistant coach with the improvements on the power play; “I have to give a lot of credit to Perry Pearn. He made some adjustments”, said Drury according to ESPN.com.
Ryan Callahan had the first power play goal of the night for the Rangers, while Chris Drury added a shorthanded goal into the mix, getting him his second career hat trick. Henrik Lundqvist had 36 saves on the night for another solid performance in net. The Rangers’ 23 points is good for the top spot in the Eastern Conference. Rangers tickets are available for all games including their next home game at Madison Square Garden on 11/10 vs the Oilers.
Sports - After a slow start in Oklahoma last night, the Boston Celtics clamped down on the Thunder to cruise to their 4th win of the year. Paul Pierce led the way for the Celtics with 20 points and 9 rebounds in the 96-83 victory. It was the Celtics’ first game and first win against the relocated Sonics team.
The Celtics gave up 29 points in the 1st quarter as the Thunder came out strong. Boston clearly has a large target on their backs and should expect most teams to come out gunning against them. The Celtics turned it around in the 2nd period scoring 30 and holding the Thunder to just 15 points. Rajon Rondo chipped in with 11 assists while Kendrick Perkins had 4 blocked shots.
Boston Celtics tickets are available for all home games including their 11/7 game against the Milwaukee Bucks.
Sports - It took four games and a double over time, but the San Antonio Spurs got their first win of the year last night against the Timberwolves. The end result was a 129-125 victory in which Tony Parker scored a career high 55 points, the biggest 2 coming on a 20 foot buzzer beater to send the game into the 2nd OT.
The Timberwolves who also stand at 1-3 now, did everything they could to hang in there with the Spurs. They got a huge night out of Al Jefferson who scored 30, with 14 rebounds and 3 assists.
The Spurs have gotten off to slow starts in recent years only to turn it on in the final weeks. They’re certainly hoping to avoid that pattern this year. They’ll be looking for their 2nd win of the season on 11/7 when they host the Miami Heat.
San Antonio Spurs tickets are available for all 2008-2009 games.
