Concerts, Homepage - One positive thing seems to have come out of the September 19th plane crash that killed four people and seriously injured DJ AM and Travis Barker. Barker’s old friends and fellow Blink 182 members Mark Hoppus and Tom Delonge have reconnected since the tragedy. Hoppus commented on the situation on his blog:
” ‘Does this mean a Blink-182 reunion?’ The answer is none of us know. We haven’t talked about it at all. Right now it’s just good for the three of us to see one another, reconnect and let the past be the past. The events of the past two months supersede everything that happened before. Life is too short.”

Homepage, Sports - On Sunday the Arizona Cardinals attempted something that had not been successfully pulled off since 1968 – a free kick field goal. Players, fans, coaches, and even the refs seemed to be confused about the specifics as it was occurring. Although rare, the free kick can be a useful way to parlay a bad punt into three fast points.
A team may attempt a free kick after fielding a ball on a fair catch (even if the clock runs out during the kicking play). The kicker may not use a tee, and the defense must stay back ten yards from the line of scrimmage. Cards kicker Neil Rackers failed in his attempt, and the New York Giants finished the first half with a 17-12 lead (in a game they would ultimately win.
New York Giants tickets are available for all games!

Sports - Riding the momentum from Friday night’s win in Minnesota, Garnett’s first trip back since his trade to the Celtics, Boston dropped 118 points on the Toronto Raptors today for their 13th win of the year. In Friday night’s win at the Timberwolves, Kevin Garnett led the Celtics with 17 points en route to a 95-78 win.

The win was the fifth straight for the Boston Celtics who have been cruising lately. They’ve overcome some tough opponents and early deficits to maintain their poise. As the defending champions they are no doubt wearing a target on their backs. The Celtics will get two days to rest before hosting the Golden State Warriors on 11/26. On Friday the Celtics will host the Philadelphia 76ers as part of a double header of hockey and basketball at the TD Banknorth Garden. Celtics tickets are available for both of these games now.
Sports - It was a good finish to a very successful week for the Boston Bruins. After a win at home on Friday night Bruins beat the Montreal Canadiens in Montreal last night to take 1st place in the Eastern Conference. The Bruins won 3-2 in a shoot out victory. The win came on the same night that the Canadiens welcomed back old goalie Patrick Roy to retire his number 33. The win for the Bruins was their 9th in 10 games and gave them 32 points, good for first overall in the Eastern Conference.
Tim Thomas continues to play at the top of his game. He stopped 33 Montreal shots in the game, again holding his opponent to two goals or less. The Bruins got goals from Milan Lucic (2nd period) and Matt Hunwick (3rd period) in regulation while Blake Wheeler got the lone shootout goal to steal the win for Boston.
The Bruins will be back on home ice this Friday to host the Islanders. The Detroit Red Wings come in the following day, 11/29. Boston Bruins tickets are available for all remaining games.
Sports - Allen Iverson’s move to Detroit has helped the Pistons get past the Lakers and the Cavs but not their Eastern Conference rival, Boston Celtics. The Celtics ruined Iverson’s home debut with Detroit a couple of weeks ago. It was more of the same last night at the TD Banknorth Garden as the Celtics prevailed over Detroit 98-80. Iverson managed 16 points and 4 assists but was outplayed by Celtics’ point guard Rajon Rondo. Rondo scored 18 and had 8 assists as the leading scorer for Boston last night.
Both teams scored 21 points in the 1st but Boston would pull away in the 2nd and 3rd quarters outscoring Detroit 56-36 in that stretch. The Celtics got 15 points out of Kevin Garnett who returned from a one game suspension. Rasheed Wallace would add 13 points and 6 rebounds for Detroit. Last night marked the 5th straight game where the Celtics held the Pistons to under 90 points.
The Celtics will play their next two games on the road before returning home to the TD Banknorth Garden to host the Golden State Warriors on 11/26. Celtics tickets are available for all remaining 2008-2009 games.
Sports - Despite a slow and sloppy start to last night’s game against the Dallas Stars, the Chicago Blackhawks were able to turn it around in the second half of the game, eventually winning 6-3. Dallas got it going early, scoring the first goal and outshooting Chicago 10-1 at one point. Brenden Morrow got the lone first period goal for the Stars at the 7:37 mark. The Blackhawks were able to tie it up at the end of the first on a wrist shot by Patrick Kane.
The Blackhawks would play a more involved and intense game in the second period. They took their first lead of the night on Ben Eager’s second period goal assisted by Dave Bolland. A Stars’ power play goal by Mike Modano would even the score at 2 apiece just one minute later. Near the end of the second period, Chicago rookie Kris Versteeg broke a 3-3 tie with a power play goal. Chicago would hang on to this lead for good adding two goals in the third period from Martin Havlat and Patrick Kane.
The Blackhawks will play their next four on the road before returning to the United Center on 12/3 to host the Anaheim Ducks. Chicago Blackhawks tickets are available for all 2008-2009 games now.
