Concerts, Homepage - My Bloody Valentine hasn’t released an album in 17 years. Up until earlier this year, they had not gone on a proper tour in 15 years. Their die-hard fans’ patience was rewarded by a string of European festival appearances, as well as a string of dates across North America. The legendary shoegaze band brought their ear-splitting show back on the road – and didn’t seem to have missed a beat since the early 90′s.
What has fans really excited is the prospect of a new My Bloody Valentine album finally being finished. MBV mastermind Kevin Shields finally seems to have found his motivation to finish the follow up to 1991′s Loveless. “I realized that all that stuff I was doing in 1996 and 1997 was a lot better than I thought” Shields told the New York Time’s Jon Pareles. According to Shields, the band plans to finish the partially-completed album, as well as record new material as well. Rumors of an extensive world tour in support of those albums have been heard as well.
In the short term, a reissue of MBV classic Loveless is scheduled to be released in January of 2009.

Homepage, Sports - The Chicago Blackhawks are on their best run in 27 years. Chicago has won their last seven games, and are 8-1-1 in their last ten. If they can win their post-break game against Philadelphia, they will go for the Blackhawks franchise record against the Minnesota Wild on December 28th. Led by right wing Patrick Kane, the Blackhawks are making at run at the division lead. The New Years Day matchup against the Detroit Red Wings may have a lasting effect on who wins the Central.

Homepage, Sports - For the second consecutive week, the New England Patriots played like the 2007 squad. The Pats held veteran QB Kurt Warner to just 30 passing yards (186 total yards for the team) while racking up 514 yards of their own. Matt Cassell had another impressive outing, going 20-36 for 345 yards and 3 touchdowns. Randy Moss, Wess Welker, and Kevin Fault all caught TD’s, while LaMont Jordan had both of New England’s rushing TD’s.
The Patriots playoff hopes are still alive. If the Patriots can win their final game of the season, here are the playoff scenarios:
If the Ravens lose in week 17, the Patriots would take the AFC Wild Card.
If the Jets beat the Dolphins next week, the Patriots would win the hotly-contested AFC East.

Homepage, Sports - David Krejci picked a good time to pick up his first NHL hat trick. His three goals were the difference in a very high-scoring game against the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Leafs gave B’s tender Tim Thomas a lot of trouble. Though the Bruins were up 5-1 by the early 2nd period, thomas got rocked for 4 more goals in rapid succession. He was swapped out for batterymate Manny Fernandez, who stopped all 13 shots he faced.
With a goal in the second period, Phil Kessel not only hit the 100 career point mark, but he also extended his point streak to 16 games. The Bruins are now 9-1-0 in the last ten games, and are comfortably leading the Northeast division.
Marco Sturm, Marc Savard, and rookie Michael Ryder also contributed goals for Boston.

Homepage, Sports - The Atlanta Hawks seemed to be in control when the 4th Quarter started last night. Kevin Garnett had other plans. KG was only 2-10 shooting from the floor in the first three quarters, but exploded with a dominant 5-5 fourth. In a low-scoring, high-defense game, the C’s managed to drop 29 on the Hawks in the final quarter to seal a 88-85 win. Many sports writers had this game picked out as the most possible streak-ender for the C’s – The Hawks held Boston winless in Atlanta last year in the playoffs.
The win puts the Celtics in a great position to make a run for not only the longest NBA winning streak, but also the best record in NBA history.
