Jack Johnson Continues Green Tour

Posted by Ace Staff on July 1st, 2008

Tickets for the next round of Jack Johnson Tour dates are available now! After spending July in Europe, Johnson will return to the US on August 8th to play the Comcast Center (formerly Tweeter Center) in Mansfield, MA. This “green” tour is encouraging concertgoers to carpool to the show, bring their own bottles of water to refill, and has offered free VIP parking to people who come in hybrid cars. Johnson’s backstage wish list is a far cry from some bands who ask for M&M’s without the green ones, or vodka with a scorpion in it. Johnson’s rider asks for water efficient showers, biodegradable trash bags, recycling containers, and a request that leftover food is donated to local food banks.  Additionally, he requests for an “eco-crew” for the parking lot to check air pressure in tires and give fuel efficiency tips. Catch Jack Johnson’s green tour in a city near you! Aug. 3: Oro, Ontario (Burl’s Creek Park)
Aug. 6: Mansfield, Mass. (Tweeter Center)

Possible Phish Reunion Tour Talks Stir

Posted by Ace Staff on June 27th, 2008

Almost four years have passed since Phish broke up but recent rumors have begun to spread about a possible reunion tour in the works. In an interview last week with Rolling Stone Magazine, Trey Anastasio dropped a few hints that there is a possibility that the band may be considering getting back together. “When Phish broke up, I made some comment about how I’m not gonna go around playing ‘You Enjoy Myself’ for the rest of my life. And its so funny because Fish and Mike and Page have been talking to each other a lot lately and now – it’s not that I can’t believe that I said that, but its symbolic of how much I lost my mind or how much I lost my bearings or something. Because at this point in time I would give my left nut to play that song five times in a row everyday until I die. I certainly thought about that while I was in jail.” Anastasio said. The interview with Rolling Stone took place on May 21st, the same day Anastasio got the good news that he would not be heading back to jail for possession of pain killers without a prescription but rather he was sentenced to probation after successfully completing a drug treatment program. It’s unclear at this point if the talks are just that or if the band has a real intention of hitting the road to tour again. Regardless, the rumors have Phish fans getting excited in anticipation to see the band perform live on stage once again. Update October 1, 2008 The Phish reunion is rumor no more. Phish will reunite for three concerts at the very least in 2009 in Hampton, Virginia. Phish announced shows for March 6-8. Phish tickets are now available.

High Hopes for BC Eagles Football in 2008

Posted by Ace Staff on May 30th, 2008

Ever since Boston College joined the ACC, the Eagles football program has continued to make strides in the right direction. Last year they were victorious in the Champs Sports Bowl 24-21 over Michigan St., they finished the season rated in the Top 10 of the AP poll and then had two of their players (Matt Ryan and DeJuan Tribble) drafted 3rd and 17th in the NFL Lottery. The future continues to look very bright for the Eagles and expectations are high for the 2008 campaign. BC returns the core of their upperclassman defensive unit which last season held opponents to an average of 16.9 points a game in their 11 wins. On the offensive side of things, Chris Crane will replace Ryan as the starting QB in the fall. Crane who stands at 6’5″ tall and has a solid 220 lb frame dominated the spring ball workouts and left no one guessing as to who would win the starting job. Crane is also very excited about the potential starting running back in Josh Haden. This kid’s got tons of speed and lots of potential to be the next superstar back in the conference. “He’s here, and he’s working real hard,” said Crane of Haden. “During practice we’ve done some live snaps and he’s broken off a couple around the edge and ran up the sideline. He only needs a little crease and he’s strong enough upper body and lower body wise to break through that hole and break arm tackles.” The Eagles will continue to work hard over the summer to put themselves in great game shape come the fall season. Barring any injuries they will most likely be the pre-season favorites to win the ACC. 2008 Schedule Aug. 30 – @ Kent State Sept. 6 – Georgia Tech Sept. 20 – Central Florida Sept. 27 – Rhode Island Oct. 4 – @ N.C. State Oct. 18 – Virginia Tech Oct. 25 – @ North Carolina Nov. 1 – Clemson Nov. 8 – Notre Dame Nov. 15 – @ Florida State Nov. 22 – @ Wake Forest Nov. 29 – Maryland Tickets are now available for all 2008 BC Eagles Football games!
