Red Sox Win Ninth Spring Training Game

The Boston Red Sox beat the Tampa Bay Rays, 4-2, yesterday in their fifth matchup during spring training this year. This is their second win out of the five games, and the Sox still have four more games to go. The Red Sox are still not sure who will secure that center field spot: Grady Sizemore or Jackie Bradley Jr. (more)

UMass Lowell and BC Enter the NCAA Tourney

UMass Lowell and Boston College will head to the DCU Center this weekend to kick off the NCAA Hockey Tournament. The Eagles will face Denver on Saturday, and UMass Lowell will take on Minnesota State-Mankato in the second game.  (more)

Bruins vs Canadiens Tonight!

The Bruins will be looking to continue their winning streak tonight in Boston as they face the Montreal Canadiens for the fourth time this season. Going into tonight’s game, the Canadiens have the upper hand after winning the first two match ups between these teams. The Bruins beat the Canadiens on March 12 at the Bell Center, and we will see tonight if they can continue their hot streak.  (more)

Papi’s Contract Extension with the Sox

Entering his 12th season with the Boston Red Sox, David Ortiz will be adding one year and $16  million to his contract extension with the organization. With a possibility as a free agent after this season, both Ortiz and the Red Sox this spring expressed their wanting to extend their relationship to last beyond 2014.  (more)

Bruins Clinch a Playoffs Spot

Friday night’s game against the Colorado Avalanche not only ended with a victory, but also the Boston Bruins became the first team in the NHL to claim a playoffs spot. The Bruins still hold the number one seed in the Eastern Conference, and they are six points ahead of the Pittsburgh Penguins. (more)

Yanks Top the Sox, 8-1

Yesterday’s spring training game against long time rivals, the New York Yankees, proved to be unsuccessful for the 2013 World Champions. The Red Sox were unable to do work against the Yankees’ pitcher, Michael Pineda. And on the flip-side, Felix Doubront was having a difficult time stopping the Yankee hitters.  (more)

Celtics vs Heat Tonight!

Although their records are almost complete opposites, the Boston Celtics make it a game whenever they face the Miami Heat. The two teams have split victories this season both in Miami. On November 9, Jeff Green hit a memorable buzzer beater three to top the Heat 111-110, and on January 21 Lebron James scored 29 in the victory at home (93-86). Tonight in Boston it’ll be a matter of who brings their A game and who wants it more.  (more)

Bruins Win 10th Straight

The Boston Bruins have been on a roll this month, winning ten consecutive games since March 2. They rolled past the New Jersey Devils last night in New Jersey 4-2 in their rally for the President’s Trophy. The Bruins are just two behind the St. Louis Blues for the prestigious award for the most points in the NHL. The B’s currently have 99, but they have plenty of games and opportunities to put themselves ahead.  (more)
