The Boston Red Sox have locked up 2007 Rookie of the Year and 2008 American League MVP Dustin Pedroia for six year. The terms of the deal have not been made public, but the figure is reported to be around $40.5 million. The Sox home-grown second baseman was essential to Boston’s success in both of his years for the club; setting the table for the power-hitters in the lineup as well as being a defensive force in the middle infield.

Despite 30 points from Orlando forward Rashard Lewis, the Cetlics walked away from last night’s game with an impressive 9-game winning streak. The C’s kept their cool and held off the Magic for a 107-88 victory, despite a total of 8 technicals being called. With another one on his record, Kendrick Perkins is getting perilously close to being suspended a game for each two T’s.
Rajon Rondo was outstanding moving the ball around yet again, racking up 12 assists.

The New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers will become the third pair of NFL teams to match up at London’s Wembley Stadium. Last season the New York Giants beat the Miami Dolphins, and just over a month ago the New Orleans Saints beat the San Diego Chargers. Like the two previous across-the-pond games, the 2009 meeting is expected to sell out the full 83,000 seats in the house. This game is highly anticipated, as the Pats and Bucs are responsible for 4 of the last 7 NFL Championships.

The Portland Trail Blazers topped the Pistons in Auburn Hills on Sunday in what is becoming a regular sight for Detroit fans. Both the Pistons and the Lions have yet to win a game on a Sunday this season. LaMarcus Aldridge led the rout with 27 points, followed by 19 from Brandon Roy, and 10 points and a career high 13 rebounds by Greg Oden.
“This is a good win for us, because we’ve struggled against good teams on the road this year,” Roy said in a post-game interview. “We had good focus, and we were able to close the game.”
Allen Iverson continues to struggle in Detroit, describing his tenure with the team so far as “almost (been) like a training camp”
Portland Trail Blazers tickets are available now for all games this season.
The Boston Globe‘s Tony Massarotti writes that Japanese prospect Junichi Tazawa has agreed to a 3 year $3 million major-league contract, pending a physical in Boston sometime in the next few days. Although he has had no professional experience, Tazawa dazzled for Nippon Oil ENEOS, a corporate team. Subject to amateur draft rules, Tazawa would not be eligible to become a free agent until 2014.
On the low end of potential, Tazawa has been assessed to be like reliever Shigetoshi Hasegawa, an effective middle reliever and setup man for the Mariners and Angels from 1997-2005. After some time in the minors, Tazawa could even develop into a middle or back of-the-rotation starter.

The NHL Winter Classic, hockey’s annual outdoor game, is coming to Wrigley field this season. Unlike last year’s Pittsburgh/Buffalo affair, the 2009 Classic may have implications in the results of the Western Conference Central Division.
The Chicago Blackhawks and Detroit Red Wings have stepped it up recently. Both teams have fought through tough schedules to put up 7-1-2 records in the past ten, and have largely avoided the injury bug. With a game in hand, Chicago trails Detroit by 7 points – though the teams have had similar seasons so far. Red Wings RW Marian Hossa leads the team with 24 points, while Blackhawks RW Patrick Kane has 25.

Spurs shooting guard Manu Ginobli was projected to be out until the middle of December, recovering from surgery on his ankle in the offseason. Ginobli recently told Spurs coach Greg Popovich that he would be ready to return to action on Monday night at Memphis. The Spurs have struggled without their Star #6 man, putting up a 7-6 record in his absence. “I’m going to be out of shape, a little slower,” Ginobli told Yahoo Sports. “But those are things you only get from playing. I feel like it works better for me getting 10 minutes of playing time than 20 minutes on a treadmill.”

We’ve been giving you the NFL results each week all season long, but now we’re going to give predicting the games a shot.
Thanksgiving Games: Thursday, November 27th
Tennessee at Detroit - 12:30pm
TENNESSEE – NFL best versus NFL worst.
Seattle at Dallas – 4:15 PM
DALLAS – While Seattle got their running act together last week, a fired-up T.O. and healthy Romo should shred the ‘Hawks.
Arizona at Philadelphia – 8:15 PM
ARIZONA – Even with the vote of confidence, McNabb does not seem to have what it takes to get it done. Arizona gets style points for attempting a free kick last week.
Sunday, November 30th
San Francisco at Buffalo – 1:00 PM
BUFFALO – The Bills are streaking, and the combo of Lynch on the ground and Evans in the air should outdo whatever Frank Gore can muster.
Baltimore at Cincinnati – 1:00 PM
BALTIMORE – Cincy is in a world of hurt this season, and Flacco has been impressive.
Indianapolis at Cleveland – 1:00 PM
INDIANAPOLIS – Quinn may be out for the season, and previously-benched Anderson does not instill much confidence.
Carolina at Green Bay – 1:00 PM
GREEN BAY – Jake Delhomme has struggled, and the Packers ‘D at home may prove troublesome for the Panthers’ two-headed running attack.
Miami at St. Louis – 1:00 PM
MIAMI – Despite the wildcat offense failing last week against the Pats, Ronnie Brown should rack up the yards (and points) against a weak STL run defense.
New Orleans at Tampa Bay – 1:00 PM
NEW ORLEANS – Brees had a monster game on Monday, and with Colston healthier, he could have a bigger one on Sunday.
NY Giants at Washington – 1:00 PM
GIANTS – It could be a close one. If Brandon Jacobs can put up a solid game, the G-Men should hang on for a win.
Atlanta at San Diego – 4:05 PM
ATLANTA – If Matty Ice can keep the Chargers secondary guessing, it could open up quite a day for Michael Turner in his return to San Diego.
Pittsburgh at New England – 4:15 PM
NEW ENGLAND – Matchup of the week. Cassell has thrown for over 400 yards two weeks in a row, and if the Pats D can stuff the Steelers run they should force Big Ben into tossing costly INTs.
Denver at NY Jets – 4:15 PM
NEW YORK – Thomas Jones has been a monster lately, and should open up the passing game for Favre against a faltering Denver team.
Kansas City at Oakland - 4:15 PM
OAKLAND – As much grief as the Raiders have had this season, they have a solid chance to beat rookie Tyler Thigpen. The Chiefs only put up 10 agaisnt OAK earlier this year.
Chicago at Minnesota – 8:15 PM
MINNESOTA – Peterson looks like he will run all over the Bears D, and Orton may have a tough time if the Vikings manage the clock well enough.
Monday, December 1st
Jacksonville at Houston – 8:30 PM
HOUSTON – One of the toughest games to call this week. It boils down to who has the better day, Maurice Jones-Drew or Steve Slaton. Slaton played hurt last week, and still seemed a lot more motivated than MJD.
