Get New U2 Album Early

Posted by Ace Staff on January 27th, 2009

Will you get the new U2 album, ‘No Line On the Horizon’ before its early March release date? If you want to you’ll have to travel to the band’s hometown to do so.  Their upcoming album scheduled for release on March 2 in Europe and March 3 in the U.S. will be released on February 27 in Ireland only.  No details on how or why the album is getting an early release for U2′s homeland but U2 fans in Dublin won’t complain. U2′s first single off the new album, “Get on Your Boots” has been met with mixed reviews. Some lovers, some haters and some right in the middle.  Either way the sound is definitely not typical U2 and has certainly created a buzz around the rest of the album’s tracks.  Aside from occasional unfounded rumors, there has been no significant news regarding a 2009 U2 tour.  We only know that a U2 tour is certainly inevitable. Stay tuned for info on U2 tickets as news becomes available.

House Leads the Charge; Celtics Win 6 Straight

Posted by Ace Staff on January 22nd, 2009

Eddie House scored 20 points in the second quarter alone last night in a 98-83 Boston Celtics victory over the Miami Heat.  House shot 7-11 from 3 point range and finished the game with 25.  Ray Allen scored a game high 27 for the C’s, contributing to the teams 15 for 25 3-point shooting percentage.  Kevin Garnett scored 16 points, and pulled down 13 rebounds.  Paul Pierce added 14 points. House, who was with the Heat for his first three seasons in the league says although he’s used to Miami’s American Airlines Arena, his performance didn’t have much to do with the gym itself.  “I don’t think this had anything to do with the building,” he said.  “I was just getting open looks.  We concentrated on moving the ball, and this is what happened.” Dwayne Wade received the NBA player of the month award for December at the half as the Heat trailed the Celtics 57-34.  Wade scored 25 points for Miami followed by Deaquan Cook who finished with 20. Up next for the Celtics is a tough match up tonight against the Orlando Magic; a team currently leading the league with a 33-8 record. The Celtics beat the Magic earlier this season, making this a payback game for Orlando.  Looking ahead Celtics coach Doc Rivers states “We’re obviously not where we want to be but we’re starting to trend in the right direction.” Boston Celtics tickets are available now!

Bruins Edge Out Maple Leafs in Shootout

Posted by Ace Staff on January 22nd, 2009

For the first time this season the Boston Bruins found a way to win after trailing going into the 3rd period.  The B’s were down 3-1 after 40 minutes when Dennis Wideman and Zdeno Chara both came up big scoring to send it to overtime.  This set the stage for Michael Ryder to score the shootout winner, keeping the Bruins on top of the league standings with the San Jose Sharks at 73 points. All-Star goalie Tim Thomas finished the game with 31 saves. Reflecting on the game he said he didn’t know if a comeback was possible.  “The only thing that was in the back of my mind was how well we’ve responded to almost every situation this year,” said Thomas.  With this said the Bruins are clear ahead of the rest of the division by 13 points.  Look for the Bruins next at home January 27th as they square off against the Washington Capitals at 7 p.m. Boston Bruins tickets are available now!

Papelbon Signs 1 Year Deal With Sox

Posted by Ace Staff on January 21st, 2009

Boston Red Sox closer Jonathan Papelbon avoided arbitration and signed a 1-year $6.5 million contract. While they tried to reach a deal on a long-term contract, a short term deal was reached in the interim. Papelbon is locked up with the Sox through 2011, and will be eligible for arbitration again after next season. One of the top closers in the game, Papelbon is moving up from the $800,000 salary he made during a 41 save season last year. Papelbon has racked up 113 saves in 128 chances with a 1.84 ERA in 3 1/2 years with the Sox. Among pitchers with over 200 innings, Papelbon’s career ERA is the second best since 1900. Celtics Cruise By Suns

Posted by Ace Staff on January 20th, 2009

The Boston Celtics kept the winning streak rolling at the Garden last night, as they easily handled the Pheonix Suns 104-87.  Rajon Rondo had a big night scoring 23 points and dishing out 7 assists, before he and the rest of the starters sat for the entire fourth quarter.  The game was decided after the first half with a 30 point advantage to the Celtics.  Ray Allen scored 20 points in his 32 minutes; as Garnett and Pierce finished with 16 and 12 respectively. Shaquille O’Neal led the Suns with 16 points, and Nash followed with 12 points and 8 assists.  When asked about the C’s play,  Nash simply stated the Celtics “put on a clinic for us tonight.”  The game brought back memories of the Celtics’ 19 game winning streak earlier in the season. After a recent mid-season drought, they seem to be back in cruise control as they have won 5 in a row.  When asked about their season Pierce stated “I never really thought we lost our confidence. We’re still the defending champions. It’s just a matter of remembering who we are as a team.”  Next the Celtics travel to Florida, facing off against the Heat the 21st, followed by Orlando on the 22nd. Blues Rally, Beat Bruins in Shootout

Posted by Ace Staff on January 20th, 2009

The last five minutes of last night’s Bruins/Blues matchup had more action than more entire games do. Down by a goal, the Bruins rallied to score three goals in under two minutes, giving the B’s a two-goal lead with barely three minutes to go. St Louis would get points on a David Perron power play goal, and a game tying shot by David Backe. After a scoreless overtime period, the Blues shut out the B’s in the shootout to take the overtime win. Even with the loss, the Bruins are tied with the San Jose Sharks for NHL best point standings at 71. Boston Bruins Tickets are available now!

Celtics Dominate Nets Again

Posted by Ace Staff on January 19th, 2009

The last time the Celtics and Nets met, the Celtics made it look easy in a 118-86 rout. Saturday night’s game was no different, with the C’s nearly doubling up on New Jersey in the first half. The Celtics benefited from Rajon Rondo’s near triple double (9 rebounds, 14 assists, and 8 points, along with 2 steals),  solid play off the bench from Leon Powe and Eddie House, and Ray Allen’s 25 point effort. “It was a great start,” C’s coach Doc Rivers told the AP. “It’s one of the things we talked about. If you get off to a good start, it gives you a chance to play well the whole game. I thought the whole team was running well.” The Celtics will host the Phoenix Suns at home tonight at the Garden. Keep your eyes on Shaquille O’Neal’s Twitter feed in case he any enlightening post-game comments. Boston Celtics Tickets are available now!

Super Bowl XLIII Matchup – Arizona vs Pittsburgh

Posted by Ace Staff on January 19th, 2009

The Conference Championships are over, and the matchup for the 2009 Superbowl is set. The Arizona Cardinals capitalized on Philadelphia’s mistakes to win the NFC Championship 32-25. Behind the stellar defensive play of Troy Polamalu, the Steelers contained Ravens’ rookie QB Joe Flacco. The Steelers’ 23-14 win puts them in the Super Bowl for the second time in 4 years. This is the first Super Bowl appearance, and second Championship game (the Chicago Cards won the 1947 meeting with the Philadelphia Eagles). The 2009 Super Bowl will be held at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa on February 1st, 2009. Super Bowl Tickets are available now!
