In a bold initiative, Ace Ticket builds and opens a television studio in their flagship location. Comcast SportsNet will move Celtics Pre and Post Game Shows to new Ace Ticket Studio on October 28.

Boston, MA – Comcast SportsNet and Ace Ticket announced today that the regional sports network will host its Celtics Pre-Game Live and Celtics Post Game Live studio shows from the Ace Ticket Studio on Causeway Street for every 2009-10 Boston Celtics home game.

The store front studio, located at 109 Causeway Street, inside the Ace Ticket flagship location and directly across the street from TD Bank Garden will premiere with the home opener on Wednesday, October 28. Before and after every home game, studio host Gary Tanguay and NBA analyst Donny Marshall will preview and break down the game…

The studio will feature 12 high definition cameras that Comcast SportsNet will operate remotely from its Burlington studios. Celtics fans will be able to view the telecast from the Ace Ticket Studio and from the street as the studio will be lined with 6 glass panels that extend from Causeway to Friend Street.

“The Ace Ticket Studio represents a first for Comcast SportsNet and it brings our telecast to a new level. Sports is about the experience and giving fans a chance to experience our Celtics telecast is an exciting way to begin this much anticipated season,” said Bill Bridgen, Comcast SportsNet’s executive vice president and general manager.

“The store front location directly across from the Garden will give our customers and Celtics fans a front row seat as Comcast SportsNet puts on its award winning telecast,” said Ace Ticket founder and CEO, Jim Holzman. “Ace Ticket continues to expand its presence in Boston and to work with Comcast SportsNet gives a high profile opportunity to reach our consumers.”

Comcast SportsNet will use the studio throughout the year, during Bruins telecasts, and extensively on Celtics game night as it will provide an exclusive location to interview Celtics front office officials, visiting team representatives and high profile fans attending the games.

Fenway Talks Premier League Soccer

Red Sox Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer Sam Kennedy has recently been circulating the idea of bringing Premier League Soccer to Fenway Park. The Boston Globe reports his plans for a regular season game in 2012, serving as part of Fenway’s 100-year anniversary celebration.

“Our mission is to explore all sorts of what we call ‘blue chip events’ at Fenway Park. It started back in 2003 with the Bruce Springsteen concert,” said Kennedy. ”We’re having outdoor hockey games with the NHL and Hockey East. The concept of an English premier League game is very, very exciting, and fits in line with our standard of events.” He later began to have doubts by saying “I don’t know that they would be interested in doing it. We need to do some more homework and see if it would work.”

Premier League Soccer has been showcased in the past at U.S. locations like Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, MA. Kennedy will hope for Fenway to play host to Premier teams down the road in November or December, after the MLB postseason wraps up barring snow issues.

Bernard Pollard Almost Brady’s Cassel

Early last season New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady went down with a severe knee injury, after Kansas City Chiefs defensemen Bernard Pollard fell into him.  Matt Cassel, who took Brady’s place for the rest of the year landed a big contract with Pollard’s Chiefs for this upcoming season.  During yesterday’s training camp practice Pollard thought he was about to be blocked, misread the play and stumbled right into Cassel.  After practice Pollard commented on the reoccurrence, saying “I got to the sidelines after that play and I realized what happened. I thought, — OH MY GOD! It’s like a replay.”

Despite the same events taking place on that particular play, Cassel luckily did not come out injured. The Kansas City Chiefs will have their first test this Saturday in a pre-season match up against the Houston Texans at 7:00 pm.

Tulowitzki Hits for the Cycle

Colorado Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki hit for the cycle +1 with 7 RBI’s in last night’s 11-5 win over the Chicago Cubs at Coors field.  His perfect game from the batter’s box marks the fifth cycle in Rockies history.  Tulowitzki also joined the most private club, as he and former Red Sox shortstop John Valentin are the only players in MLB history with an unassisted triple play and a cycle during their careers.

Tulowitzki had covered every type of hit but a triple going into his fourth at bat.  He hit a frozen rope down the third base line, which left-fielder Alfanso Soriano could not cleanly handle.  He then bobbled the ball in the corner and the relay throw went passed third as Tulowitzki awkwardly slid in.  Despite the over throw the official mark was a triple.  Tulowitzki said he probably wouldn’t have went for third if it wasn’t for right-fielder Brad Hawpe’s encouraging words.  “He was like, ‘You know how many chances in your career that you’re going to get to try to get a cycle?’ He said, ‘One, and it’s this one.’ I said, ‘What if I’m on second and the ball’s coming?’ He was like, ‘You’ve still got to go,’” said Tulowitzki.

Tulowitzki and the Rockies will next face the Pittsburg Pirates; the first game starting tonight at 8:40 pm. Colorado Rockies tickets are now available!

After a long opening round series against the Chicago Bulls, the Boston Celtics will face the Orlando Magic in the conference semi-finals. Orlando and Boston split the regular-season series, although the now-injured Kevin Garnett missed or had few minutes of playing time in both of the losses.  “We didn’t win either game without Kevin,” Celtics coach Doc Rivers told the AP’s Jimmy Golen. “And so we’re going to have to go and find out why.” The Magic watched film on KG, but will be preparing for a team without him according to Orlando coach Stan Van Gundy. “It’s not like you’re going to go, ‘Kevin Garnett? I never heard of him,” said Van Gundy. “What does he do?’ I think we can make that adjustment pretty quickly. I think we all have a pretty good idea of who Kevin Garnett is.”

Dwight Howard, who was suspended for game 6 of the Magic/76ers series, will be available on Monday night. “If you want to be the champs, you have to beat the champs,” Howard said, eager to face the Celtics in round two.

During the broadcast of the Toronto Maple Leafs New Year’s Day game, announcers reportedly mentioned rumors about next year’s Winter Classic matchup. Seemingly having inside info, the broadcast team said that NHL was going to continue to match up original Six teams, and that a Leafs/Bruins matchup at historic Fenway Park was a no-brainer.  The involvement of a Canadian Original Six team could also mean a Bruins/Canadiens match up as well.
