The House of Blues in Boston is set to host the Dropkick Murphys for six shows from March 13th to March 17th, 2010. The Dropkicks were the first to perform at the new state of the art concert venue last year in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day. Current members include Tim Brennan, James Lynch, Al Barr, Ken Casey, Matt Kelly, Scruffy Wallace and Jeff DaRosa.
The Quincy natives first started playing together in 1996. From their six studio albums they’ve released popular singles “Tessie,” “I’m Shipping Up to Boston,” and “The State of Massachusetts.” The band is widely heard in all Red Sox, Bruins, Celtics, and Patriots home games. “I’m Shipping Up to Boston” is also the official song of Australian Rules Football (featured on the ad in Australia promoting the sport). Rolling Stone Magazine interviewed U2 frontman Bono about the continuation of their widely popular ’360 Tour,’ along with future plans for the group in 2010. “We’ve been playing really well on the tour and getting better and better, and we need to distill whatever we have into some songs,” said Bono. “I would like to put out an album quickly, but we’re only going to do it if it’s great.”
The New York Times, The Observer, and Canada Sun Media have all reported U2′s plans to release an album sometime next year. The Citi Performing Arts Center – Wang Theater in Boston, MA is scheduled to welcome Il Divo to center stage Friday, December 18th at 8:00 PM. The international operatic pop group was formed by American Idol’s Simon Cowell. In 2004 they signed with Cowell’s record label Sysco Music. The Mighty Mighty Bosstones scheduled three shows at the House of Blues in Boston, MA from Saturday, December 26th to Monday, December 28th. The string of performances will include songs from their new album “Pin Points and Gin Joints,” which is set to be released by the end of 2009.
Originally formed in 1983, the Bosstones were eventually recognized as the leading contributors to the “ska-core” movement. In total the Boston natives have released seven full length albums, three EPs and one live album. Their 1997 record “Let’s Face It” to this day is their popular project, featuring the #1 single “The Impression That I Get.” After taking a temporary hiatus in 2003, the band reunited back home four years later at the Middle East Club.
